A tragic story of two sisters. Ga-Rei Zero is exactly that. I will try not to spoil the anime for anyone reading this review, but no promises. Read this at your own risk.

Story: The plot was very original, I don't think I've seen an anime that could start so well, and end with such a great not in just 12 episodes. This anime is truly one of a kind, and it is ridiculously underrated. The first 2 episodes are actually somewhere around the end of the story. And episodes 3-11 are flashbacks, telling what happened before the first 2 episodes. And finally episode 12 finishes it. This was quite effective, the first 2 episodes hook you, and make you wonder what's going on, then they play flashback episodes which fill you in, then they kill it with the final episode which was indeed very epic.

Art: All I can say here is that the action scenes are beautiful. The only reason this is not a 10 is because it's an old anime, but very good for its time.

Sound: I'm not one for Japanese opening and ending scenes, but the soundtrack Ga-Rei Zero was not bad at all. But the music did seem very techno-like and I didn't really enjoy that. Though for some of the scenes, the music did seem to fit the mood. I think there was only one song that I liked, and it was played around *SPOILER* the end of Episode 7, for Yomi's fathers death. The music for battles needed to be more epic.

Character: The character development was extremely well done, it showed how both of the sisters grew to love each other, and how they had gone through similar experiences. I just wish that Yomi had shown more emotion, she seemed to happy even though all that had happened to her. And then she went evil which was to much of a drastic change. But overall it had great characters. Also another side note, I wish that they had added a bit more with Yomi and Nori, showing how they're relationship developed, it just seemed that one day they hated each other and the other day they fell in love. Just didn't seem to make sense, but I guess they just went with the flow.

Overall I did enjoy this anime and I will have to rate it a solid 9/10
