Btooom!.
Story: 8/10
It's underrated, exemplary and stylish. The storyline of this anime is fast-paced, and the lead character is immediately thrown into the death game. It's a combination of SOA and battle royale, although with less action and more grenades. It's really easy to understand and appreciate the story, and you will get hooked after the first few episodes.
Art: 8/10
The art is by all means not the greatest, but there is some brilliant art work at times. The various environments are well done.
Sound: 8/10
The sound is well-done, with a catchy theme song and general interesting soundtrack. It's not the best, but definitely enough to not put you off.
Character: 7/10
During the anime there is a limited number of characters, mainly because of the fact the majority of it takes place on an isolated island. This leads to you being attracted to some of the main characters, although they're really not that interesting. Character development is generally weak at times and you barely get to know any more about the characters except some rushed explanations when it's necessary to advance the plot. Nevertheless, there is a diverse cast of characters; goodies and baddies who you will loathe and love. There's also a relationship between two characters which slowly blossoms as the story advances.
Enjoyment: 9/10
The anime's fast-paced nature and uncomplicated story means it's so accessible for anyone who likes any anime. There is some pretty interesting scenes with flashing lights, bombs and a range of unorthodox jungle creatures. If you're here for the romance then it's not for you; it's an anime about action, decisions and the bangs of bombs.
Overall: 8/10
While it's not the best anime out there, Btooom! deserves a shot. Whether you like psychological, romance or harem anime, this one is worth trying. It's addictive and will keep you interested. And though the ending may be disappointing, the mid-way action more than makes up for it.
