Honestly I never expected summer wars to be as good as I thought after i finished watching it. I expected it to be decent at least but it surpassed my expectations by far.

Really loved the movie, it was interesting and well thought out.

The story really does show how great it is to have strong ties to your family, how each and every individual is special and no one can take another's place. The idea of the OZ system was really interesting as well, having a virtual counterpart of every aspect of the real world. Even goes to show you no system is perfect, whether its social system or computer program. Not to mention, the story showed that no matter how uncertain one is with themselves, someone is needed somewhere. That everyone has a place that can call home, or a place where someone needs them.

One of the favorite aspect of Summer Wars for me was the characters, every member of Natsuki's family was unique and was able to contribute to solving the problem with Oz and protecting their family and others. Natsuki's grandma was amazing, its rare for a maternal side to be the head of the family in asian families. Not to mention she showed that its important to stay close to your family and friends no matter how long your last conversation was or how far you are, encouraging them that each individual makes a difference in the world. Kenji was another favorite character. He was able to show that being talented in just one area of life can be amazing in its own sense, not to mention he lack of confidence is something that everyone has a little inside them time to time. Since not everyone can feel like a hero in their own story, we're only human after all. We're good at only what we know and try to be good at. Last top favorite character was Kazuma. Kazuma's character was interesting because he showed he overcame bullying by learning shaolin. Not to mention his avatar portrayed his ideal self, allowing him to become closer step by step to his ideal self. A person who can protect his mother, little sister and himself.

Indeed the overall enjoyment was high, making the technological problem within Oz like a virtual game made it visually more enjoyable to watch. The story was able to play out as a serious situation, yet enjoyable for viewers of young age and those not knowledgeable about technology or IT.

Not much of a review writer, second review done in fact. Hope it helps!
