School days was one of the first few psychological romances that I had come across. To many, the word 'Yandere' (cute and squishy on the outside... psychotic crazy ***** on the inside) was brought out from this anime.

Quick Background:
Pretty much your average quiet boy, Makoto Itou, who like every young adolescent boy is looking for love and sex. The protagonist is then captivated by fellow student Kotonoha Katsura. Later on, a new classmate acquaintance of his, Sekai Saionji, discovers his secret crush and decides to wingman Makoto to victory!

Storyline:
Overall the story was probably the most intriguing factor for this anime. It's TOTALLY different to your standard animes. The 'heroic' protagonist normally finds a deeper meaning to him or herself and find the passion and courage to 'save the day'. However, School Days clearly elaborates that life or reality can actually bring out the worst in us. In Makoto's case ... horny, sex addict.

BUT this just brings out it's biggest feature. Life isn't always happy in animes, wrong decisions will only lead you down a darker path. It also portrays that characters in animes aren't always perfect, like reality, when toyed with it can bring out the worst in all of us. *COUGH KOTOHANA COUGH*

Art:
Artwork is fairly well presented, fairly standardised. Standard Japanese scenario. Some nice colours and backgrounds, nothing overly special.

Sound:
Like the artwork, overall good sound with some nice soundtracks

Character:
The Character development was very consistent and there weren't any random turns where characters would suddenly change behaviours or act out of their character for no reason. Personally, I like how it shows that girls need to be treated properly in order to fall in love and how it isn't always about the physical aspect of a relationship to keep a girl.

Enjoyment:
In all the romance anime's that I've watched, it's taught me to treat girls with respect and to love them for who they are. Well ... Makoto just disobeyed all the rules (and still got to sleep with 6 females, Dat anime logic). That is why I bore a deep hatred towards Makoto. I think of him as a selfish, filthy mutt, who (pardon my rudeness) 'humps anything that's a girl' and for that, I did not really enjoy myself for watching this anime.

Nevertheless, I do not deny that this is a very good anime; even though I did not enjoy it, this anime must be great enough to evict such a deep hatred towards the protagonist.

Overall = 8/10
To be honest, I would only recommend you this anime if you're in search for a dark twisted fantasy that contains nothing darker than reality, in for one sickening romance, or just watching 'cause you want to see why people are talking about School Days. Overall, a great storyline with a twisted ending. I hear, that the visual novel has lots of sweeter endings (for you vanilla lovers out there) and even some hentai scenes ;) (for you perverts out there :P)
