I avoided watching this before because i thought it was just gonna be about throwing grenades at each other. Boy was I wrong. It''s closer to Battle Royale than a simple game of who can kill the most people with one grenade (COD4). I eventually gave in and watched it. Before I watched it i was not expecting much. Maybe because it surprised me is why i have given it a high rating but anyway...
Btooom is the name of a game were the only weapons are grenades. The best player in the 10th best team in the world is the main protagonist. Ryōta Sakamoto is a 22 year-old (YEAH! An anime not about high school kids) who lives with his mom. After receiving a e-mail(or something like that) from the worlds number 2 player he was taken to an island where he would have to survive with a number of other people but, they also have to kill each other and collect 7 green crystals embedded in their left hands.
The main story of this anime is fairly good and i would like to say more but that would spoil the entire series. The anime was produced by Studio Madhouse and it is certainly up to standards set by Sword Art Online for animation. The characters are not two dimensional and show character progression throughout the anime. I really, really enjoyed this and at no point was i bored. Currently there is only one season but there is a manga series with 10 volumes. There is no dub at the moment.
Overall from me it gets a 9/10
