I have been thinking for a long time that anime these days cannot realy be at the same level as old creations, but this one proved me the opposite.Now let's analyse its good points.
Story:as it is said in the synopsis, the events are happening around '60.There is also a little presentation of the historical movements that took place around that time when Japan was healing from the war's scars and was filled with Americajin.All these exist so that you can go back in time and imagine (kind of) how thins were going then.
But the most important thing about this story is the friendship between the characters.I would say that the whole series is created to display a good example of friendshis.It's a mixture of honest feelings,pain,growth,resentiments,development,past-future,emotional-connections,making your dream reality,etc.
Another thing that a want to point out is the way it ends.Generally you feel kind of dissapointed if it's smth cheesy.or easy to anticipate but it won't happen with this one.
Art:well,i'm not an expert and i don't know many things about this subject but i still can say little.First af all,the art of this anime is made so that it can make you believe you are seeing the real thing.No shiny faces,no extremely handsome boys,no unreal proportions.It's more like a movie,trying to express reality.
Sound:it teaches you a lot.An important episode fron the history of music is displayed:the Jazz period.And not only this.Also the Rock-and-roll influences.
It's very interesting to see what's their hobby:playing Jazz in the basement.
The OST of this series is awesome.
Character:these characters are complex human beings and are portrayed as real humans.The fight,reconcile,hit each other,reconcile again,are saying stupidities,regretting,crying,smiling,are enjoying each other's presence or not.We are not perfect.Humans are not perfect.All that matters is the way we live our life.Enjoy it!
