FLCL (Anime) add (All reviews)
Sep 28, 2008
This series seemed insane once I first came across it. But I soon got indulged in the craziness which would soon become the awesome.

STORY: The story is confusing at first, but watching it through a lot more will get you to greater understanding.

ART: Sketchy art, with colors most likely describing Naota's current feelings. Cool yellow, dark blue-grey, and dusty brown. Sounds like an amazement-devoid emotional hole to me.

SOUND: Sound effects and voice acting make the plot stand out harder.

CHARACTER DESIGN: Sketchy-looking eyes, postmodernistic noses and mouths, and eyebrows. Made of pure awesome.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT: Naota's maturity stays steady, as his understanding of the world around him that is happening becomes much clearer. Mamimi's feelings towards Naota's brother decline as she realizes he may never be coming back. Other character's character may either be not changing or changing without us even knowing.

MUSIC: The pillows are the best band to ever exist in the world of punk-alternative. Their coltribution to FLCL is beyond expectations.

FANSERVICE: Known as "women" in my review of Puni Puni Poemi. Fanservice i this series is heavy, with panty shots, mild nude scenes, and the perverted character builds of Gaku and Kamon.

WATCHABILITY: Your mind will tell you to stay still once you see the crazy kind of excitement before you.

PROMOTION: Adult Swim did a good job with promotion. It got good ratings the first time around, and they instantly fell in love with it, airing it whenever they have time sometimes.

OTHER: The eyebrows, man.

OVERALL: An excellent series for anyone begging to be sucked into the awesome before them. 10/10.
