Chuunibyou demo koi ga shitai is an endearing anime I was instantly drawn to by its unique character designs and colourful, appealing artwork but I soon learned there was a thrilling, heart warming story to this anime.

Story
Chuunibyou demo, at first glance may seem like yet another mediocre anime focused on moe aspects and fan service. Although the anime did contain plenty of moe moments and bikini scenes it was used at nice moderation and had relevance to the story. I'm not going to waste time explaining the story since its mentioned in the summary but it is basically a mixture of silly, sarcastic humour and cutesy romance. The first couple of episodes are what you expect of the first couple of episodes but it isn't until further on when it steers to a more intense story line. Another eye watering, emotional tale of a girl and her struggles and a boy and his regrets.

Characters
Getting to know the characters was a key highlight in this anime because of there charming relationships with each other and the fascination that went with it. Rikka Takanashi is the main female protagonist and the most appealing because of her quirky personality and interesting character development. Yuuta Togashi exceeded my expectations of the male protagonist as I sometimes find the male protagonists are very same-ish and repetitive in their appearance and personality. But Yuuta changed my perspective. I felt some characters were left in the shadows as we saw little of side characters like Dekomori, Nibutani and Kumin.

Art & Animation
It was the art that drew me to this anime with the original character designs and appealing colours and with obvious similarities to the K-on girls I couldn't help give it a watch. In this anime I was satisfied with the fluent animation and stunning, night scenes.

Sound
The opening was acceptable but I felt for chuunibyou it was a bit calm and it could have used a more dramatic soundtrack for this part. The ending was nice and I felt it was relevant to representing the Chuunibyou syndrome. The bgm and OST's were lovely and used correctly.

Overall, Chuunibyou is an endearing, charming anime with a romance/comedy theme to it. Loveable characters and a fascinating plotline. Worth the watch.
