Preliminary (13/25 eps)
An unexpected find for me, was bored and decided to check it out on a whim...hooked from the first episode. The art as expected of A-1 pictures is pretty consistently good.
The music didn't really stand out to me personally, I don't find myself searching frantically for the OST as I do with other anime.

What I liked?
Utopian theme.Interesting setting.Special Powers. Interesting characters. I see many people commenting that the story starts off slow, I think its the opposite actually, we're introduced to the basic history of the world and the current state of things fairly early on, there's an entire episode 4/5 that breaks down how the world came to be as it is in the anime in detail.
What I didn't like?
The story stagnates at around episode 10, or rather the idea that I had was that the 5 children and the main protagonist especially would be like a wind of change for their town and the world they live in. But it becomes increasingly obvious that they're just being used to progress the larger narrative i.e we're just seeing their world through their eyes, despite how much they question everything they don't seem to do much to change it.
The story also doesn't explain what happens to the rest of human society, its hinted that the world population is much reduced but implied that their village is just one of many, we still don't know how life is in the other villages/towns though.
The sexual themes to be honest were the deal breaker for me though. I know they were following the novel but they should have made more concise pairings int he anime adaptation. The idea that 12/14 yearolds would have sexual relations to relieve stress creeped me out to be honest. I think they could have done away with the sexual angle and just maintained that they were all good friends.

I'll watch this to its conclusion though as I can't find anyone whose read the novel to tell me how it ends, if anyone knows please let me know.
