I tried by best to avoid spoilers.
Story -
Kanon is a slice of life anime, set in a wintery town. The overall anime appears to take place during winter and ending with the melting of the snow into spring. The story itself also bears a faint resemblance to a musical Canon... where each of the notes (Characters sub plots) come together and harmonise. The main character is recovering the memories of his child hood and he has returned to the snowy village. The story is funny at times, it had me in stitches and some of the on going gags are pure genius.
However this slice of life breaks to reveal a down tempo, the plot develops into an emotional kicker. At times I was close to dropping the anime because it because very very depressing. However I stuck with it and like a true canon it came together and really provides a shocking ending. The plot is carefully written and every character is loveable in their own way. Each shine through the plot.
The plot gets full marks from me as I feel it developed nicely and was very cleverly written.

Art and sound-
Art wise there is some nice settings and the town becomes very familiar throughout. The sound for the anime is nice our opening theme plays and develops throughout, Pachibel's canon in D is also played through out as well as some more classical tunes. The music fits nicely as they all develop and harmonise. The pieces are mainly in minor however our opening theme and the canon are written in major, Signalling that our sad plot is dotted with hope.

Character -
Each character has their own personality which sparkles and each has a well developed back story. I at first disliked a few characters however by the end I loved them all. They grow on you through the very well written plot. The plot develops as one by one the back stories and explanations on each character is given.
You will love the array of personalties gained.

Enjoyment and Overall -
Overall this anime is certainly one I would recommend, If you are a lover of slice of life this is an anime for you. Also music lovers may gain some pleasure from this anime due to its mirror of the canon. Anyone looking for a good laugh will fall for Kanon's humour and wit.
