The story is not bad. It's kinda attractive. I love how each episode makes me want to watch the next episode. More importantly, this is the first anime which I laughed quite a lot. It's pretty funny actually. And sometimes, it can be really touched. So, it's a good combination. The only let down is the story transition. After Okazaki Tomoya helped his friend solve their problem, the story just shifts completely like there was no problem solving. There aren't much connection. Not only that, but also, the ending is too linear, and not so dramatic or romantic. I don't know whether author saved the whole awesome thing for Clannad - After story, but based on what I've watched, it's not so awesome. It looks like the humor saves the day.
The art in this anime is absolutely well done. The graphic, the smoke, character, the sunset, everything appears on the screen are nice. They really catch my eye. It's outstanding.
The sound is interesting as well. It really lifts the experience of watching this.
The character looks cute though it's a bit confusing. Almost every girl character looks almost exactly the same except the hair, of course. In the beginning, it really really confused me. A few episode into the story, the new character pops up one after another. I almost paused just to look at the character to know who's who. Talking about their personality, each of the them have different personality, and they have different kind of life style. Seeing such variety makes it quite unique.
Overall, Clannad is a nice combination anime to watch. The story is okay combined with a great humor which makes it fun to watch. The art is gorgeously well done. The sound is brilliant So if you watch to laugh, and touch by the story, this is the right one. If romance is your target, I don't think you would 10 out of 10 like this one.
