About the STORY
This series is packed with tons of action, adventure, drama, laughter, and lots and lots of magic. We’ve seen Chakra Users and Reiatsu Users and we all love them. This time Fairy Tail will bring us Magic Users in a different level. It is a fact that magic is very common in an everyday anime of today but this series has its own way and different approach with magic. I believe the greatest edge of this series from others is the fast pace of the story’s flow. Unlike others where storylines are taking like forever, this anime will surprise you and you wouldn’t even notice that the arc is already done. I am not sure if that works for others but it works for me. A very long flow of the story sometimes will give you a boring feeling and you will think that it just making the series run for so long. Though there are others that genuinely need a very long and slow storylines but there are some that really makes you feel like you’ve been watching forever but the main plot is still not explored enough. Fairy tail might run in a very fast pace but they still manage to justify it because at the end of it you will still feel satisfied. In a way, that’s a good thing because you know that every episode and chapter is definitely packed with exciting scenes. In fact, it also shows how amazing the author can be, to be able to create lots of different new arcs. I think the only flaw of this series is the cliché of lines, over dramatic scenes, and lots of typicality in the storyline. There are so many times that it felt so cheesy and exaggerating. Lines, dialogues, and important scenes are a huge thing for me personally because in a way it gives you an original and unique feeling from the series. It is very important to have a sense of originality considering that there are lots of series today that have the same storyline and main plot. Nowadays, competition can really be harsh so an original story can be a leading edge from the others.
About the CHARACTERS
Of course, like others with a long airtime, Fairy tail has a very wide range of characters. You really can’t do but have a favorite. The three dragon slayers, the enigmatic Mystogan, the always half-naked Gray, the water lover Juvia, the very strong armored lady Erza, the lazy but still has potential Lucy, and even a flying and talking cat. However, the type of characters in this series are also very cliché and typical. Again, it is very important to have uniqueness not only with the story but also with characters. If you want to compete at the same level with the famous animes in the industry then originality is one of the most important key to it. Though it is obvious that Natsu is the main protagonist, the series is like in Lucy’s point of view and sometimes narrates the story though that’s only in the beginning but very rarely now. The most interesting is the story behind the three dragon slayers with their very mysterious background and very identical pasts.
About the ANIMATION and SOUND
The animation may not one of the best as in one of the top but it still definitely made amazingly. The landscape and visual effects are still very well-done and can really be considered original. The odd thing is, for some reason the ending theme are always about characters that are running. I still don’t know the significance of that but it is definitely a first to me. The music and soundtracks are also amazing.
It might not be the best but still enjoyable enough. I mean I don’t want to boast but I am a very picky anime viewer considering I’ve been an anime lover for more than a decade now. After watching so many type of animes and reading so many different mangas, you really tend to be picky and judgmental. Despite everything else I am still watching it. Definitely not loving it but not hating it. Still enjoying it.
Note: Though, I said all these flaws about the series, for some reason since the Edolas Arc, the series has been getting better and better. From the storyline and plot to characters and to the animation and sounds; everything is being polished which I believe is very important for any type of series. For a very long storyline, it is extremely important that as the story progresses the quality of every element is getting better and better as to make any viewers continue to follow it. And I love that it is a lot more exciting now.
