Although it’s been said many times, this is ONE OF THE BEST ANIME.

There’s a long review coming…………

About the STORY
The story is so rich. Every episode you get so excited, you can’t help but watch it again. It is also very much original and at the same time very risky. I mean to make the protagonist to be so irritating, that is very risky but I find it so courageous. But setting aside how exciting the story is, I absolutely believe that the strongest edge of this series is the lessons that one can learn. This is beyond a mere entertaining story but rather a story that can really change how you view the world. Well, I do. It might be a very fictional story but weight of the story is definitely moving. At first, I am just getting excited one episode after another and before I know it I am genuinely involve with it and would reflect for a very long time whenever I am alone. For that, the mangaka does not only gives birth for an entertaining piece of work to the viewers but rather a master piece that would change life and would define how one perceive things in our world.

About the CHARACTERS
The characters are very much unique and original on their own way. A bored Shinigami who owns the most dangerous weapon, well, at least for human beings; is so original I don’t even remember encountering something like that before. What I like about Ryuk, I also find human beings to be so interesting. They can be so pathetic but that makes them so interesting. The length of what they can do with their beliefs is so incomprehensive. Let’s not forget the very unusual L, who I love so much. He maybe looks so weird but he is so smart, competitive, but most importantly strong at heart. But of course, let’s go with the most irritating protagonist in the history of anime world, Light. He is just as smart as L, but the only difference would be he is weak when it comes to his heart. As dramatic as it sound can be, it is definitely a fact that it if wasn’t for the notebook, together with L, Light could’ve been one of the greatest individual who can change the world for the better. But he is defeated by the notebook. However, the most amazing thing about his character is that he can be so irritating and magnificent at the same time. He can be so absolutely amazing whenever he does his lies, plans, and schemes but at the same time you would despise him so much that you would want to go to the Death Note World just to kill him yourself. Having those conflicting feeling about him is an obvious prove how amazing his character is. I consider him as the most amazing anti-heroic character in the history of manga and anime world. With that all said, I love the rivalry between the two. In fact, their rivalry can be considered as one of the most amazing. Their competition is beyond being exciting.

About LIGHT AND L
After watching, you can’t help but choose side between LIGHT VS. L. I think that at the end of all it both side has a point. At first, I could understand why Light is doing it because everyday you watch the news, read the newspaper, read the internet, you really realize the horrible fact that the world is really rotten. You just can’t judge him. But he became so conceited because he was given so much power and even thought that he has the right to choose whose right or wrong. And the worse, he thought he should be the God of the new world. He flattered himself so much and even sacrifice innocent people and even his family. His reasons at first maybe justifiable but he was doomed the moment he thought of himself as God. At the end of it, L and Near was right that all in all Light was just a mass murderer and the DEATH NOTE was the worse weapon in the history of the world. This is what happens when people achieve so much power that they even thought they can be Gods. You can’t justify the wrong things that you do with beautiful reasons like “cleansing the world” and thinking that because you have power you have the right to choose who dies and who lives. If killing the bad guys will really cleanse the world, War and Conflict would not be still here after so many years of battles. It’s not as simple as that. I think that as long as people perceive things differently, conflicts and wars will stay. But despite that who don’t have the rights to snatch from people their hopes of changing things and more importantly of changing themselves. I think at the end of the day, the story tells us about people who fights for the things that they believe in. Is Light right or wrong? I don’t know but what I do know is that it is not wrong to do the things you believe in. I think the story was not about whether Light was wrong or not. I think more than anything else this was about a person who has great potential of changing the world but was doomed at the end because he was given a weapon that was too much for someone who was crowned with so much self proclaimed justice.

About the ANIMATION
I strongly believe that Takeshi Obata is able to illustrate the storyline and the characters so well. Every important scene is just heart-pounding and so exciting. I also love how the character of Light can look so cool and really handsome and yet so disgusting whenever he shows his true colors.

This series has moved me in so many ways. It touches my heart and I definitely learn a lot from it. This is one of those very few mangas and animes that really leave a lasting impression to any viewers. Something that would be remembered even after so many years. All in all Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata are just GENIUSES…….
