I was so glad I found out about this anime.
Although I thought it was some kind of slice of life romance kind of anime, it never stopped me from watching it when I found out it would be a 'mystery' kind of show. Now let's get on with this review!
First things first, the art and animation. I really loved the art, it's colorful and really lively, something that could be labeled as realistic or something like that. With its animation however, I can't help but feel like Kyoanimation has adapted some of Shaft's style/characteristics. (if you watch Bakemonogatari, you'll understand what I mean.) I'm not protesting or anything, I personally love the way Shaft animates shows, which is probably the main reasons why I got drawn into watching Hyouka.
The story was perfect, it made small things into such big things. And Oreki solving such mysteries that I could never think of just captivated me more. Even with it being a mystery type of show, there were hints of school life and romance along with it. I totally adore the main couples! I never thought I'd be loving a girl character who's not mean and is polite instead.
Now the one thing I didn't like, or so made me irritated about the show was how Chitanda seemed to be the perfect girl. She's kind, polite, rarely gets angry and cute. I don't even think there'd be someone like that in real life. Plus, her 'wanting-to-know-everything' attitude made her look more annoying. I still love her though, she's so cute!
Last, the songs. I really loved all Opening and ending themes! It was cute, catchy and really well-made. I hope to see more of that in Kyoanimation's next works. Well, that's all I have to say.
