This anime is, in short, excellent. It follows the manga very well, has well-casted voices in both Japanese and English audio, has a unique and entertaining premise, a kick-ass soundtrack, cool and exotic character designs, and some serious action scenes with good animation and suspense. It is superior in every way to the TV series, and aside from the beginning and the characters, the two are separate. While the story is pretty good, it is not too heavily story-driven, which can be seen as a good or bad thing. It has lots of fighting and action, the dialogue being exciting, even. Therefore, it is a thrill and joy to watch, even without sound or subtitles. This also means it has great rewatchability.
I would most definitely recommend for those of you who like action, vampires, large weapons, or intimidating and interesting nigh-invincible characters. Also, for those of you looking for an anime unlike many others. Avoid if you dislike violence or slight slander of Catholicism.
