I'd like to say I enjoyed this anime all the way through, but that would be a lie. Through out the story I found myself disliking every characters apart from the jr doctor and the jr monk, but in the final few episodes, a few more characters show parts of themselves that actually make you feel guilty for not liking them. I have to say the ending was the highlight of the anime, although it may have left a hole inside of me it still deserved a slow clap, it astounded me how it managed to completely change my view point of the whole story and all of the characters, by the end I was balling my eyes out. Granted the story did drag on every now and then and it did attempt to make you feel sorry for people you didn't care about, but I still enjoyed it, especially when it would go to the view point of the 'shiki' it made you see what it was like for the vampire, which is quite a unique idea, it really conflicts with your emotions, as you care for the people in the village, and yet you end up resenting them for hurting the shiki and vice versa, this is what really made it a good anime. but like I say the anime does drag on a wee bit, and I found myself nearly falling asleep a few times, but the good parts make up for it. I would definitely recommended this anime simply for the ending.
