Each character has his or her own unique personality. There's no, "Ugh, ANOTHER character like this?". Some characters you will love, and some you will feel hatred for, which is why the anime is so good.
The animation is beautiful. The animation is not old looking, but is not so futuristic 3D looking either.
Overall, this anime is one of the best anime I've ever watched.
I seriously recommend it.
