This anime really surprised me; I wasn't expecting anything from it, and in the end, it delivered everything.
I don’t understand the low rating this anime has. When I try to justify it, the arguments against it don’t seem strong enough, as the positive aspects far outweigh the negatives. In my opinion, this anime should be classified as a mystery slice of life, even though those two genres might seem contradictory. However, that’s precisely its essence: the two main characters logically solve everyday cases, except for a couple of situations that go beyond the ordinary.
The logic used by the protagonists, especially Kobato, is flawless. This makes you deeply invested in what’s happening and draws you into every story. Additionally, the satisfaction of seeing the mysteries solved is one of the series’ strongest points. While at first glance, it might seem like a romance anime between the protagonists, it’s really about two people who are very close and understand each other well.
It’s true that we don’t know the characters’ backstories or how they formed their bond, but that didn’t bother me. The narrative keeps you focused on their interactions and current events, helping you connect with them. Perhaps a second season will explore their past more, as we’ve already had some hints about Kobato and Osanai’s backstory.
Furthermore, the animation is simply stunning; it alone deserves a 9. I also appreciate that the characters behave like real people rather than falling into the archetypes so common in most anime. The fact that, in the end, each character goes their own way and seeks their version of happiness felt like a very satisfying conclusion. The author didn’t try to force a romance or add unnecessary elements. It’s an honest anime where what you see is what you get. Everything that is uncovered is coherent and logical, and you don’t need to overthink to follow the characters’ reasoning.
Of course, there are some areas for improvement that justify an 9.
-Lack of character development: In just 10 episodes, it’s hard to delve into two seemingly complex characters like Osanai and Kobato. However, further exploration of their backstories would definitely enrich the series.
-Limited emotional depth: Anime with greater emotional intensity tend to resonate more with the audience. That said, the calm, stoic tone here creates a constant sense of relaxation and peace. At the same time, it heightens the mystery of what the characters are thinking—especially Osanai—and gives the anime a unique narrative style.
This anime strikes an intriguing balance between the mundane and the mysterious, supported by stunning animation and genuine characters. It’s a relaxing yet captivating experience, I recommend it.
