Season one wrapped today and I'm a bit sad but also frustrated mostly because it ended on a cliffhanger more appropriate for an episode 12 of a 24 episode season. However, part of what makes that frustrating is how enjoyable the story has been so far. The characters are engaging and easy to root for. There is some typical Jump nonsense like underwear, dirty humor, etc...but that doesn't detract from the anime's good points like a begrudging partnership that blossoms into friendship and a decent sense of humor outside of the dirty jokes. The world building is fun. The monsters are freaky looking. I had a good time. I'm definitely looking forward to season two and I'm glad they announced it already.
If you like other Jump and Jump+ titles, then you'll likely like this one too. It's got a Gintama vibe that's really appealing in a sea of other magna influenced by Naruto and Bleach. If you aren't a fan of early Dragon Ball or early Yu Yu Hakusho or don't like an eccentric cast, then you're probably not going to enjoy this one.
