This is one of the cutest romances that I have ever watched.
§ Overview
Deaf and mute throughout her life, Yuki finds herself in a difficult situation while riding the train. There, she meets Itsuomi, who makes a good impression on her. Together with her friend Rin, she meets Itsuomi again in a café where both he and his cousin Kyouya work. And the rest is something you should watch for.
§ Remarks
To a certain extent, this is an ordinary but well-executed romance. Its main draw is that our main character, Yuki, has a disability, and this premise makes it unique enough.
Yuku communicates either through sign language or typing on her cell phone. She can read people's lips if they speak slowly. That's how Itsuomi initially communicated with her, but he will eventually learn sign language.
These methods have slowed down and limited what could be shown because, in normal romances, communication would be much quicker. Despite that, the cuteness displayed by our pair more than makes up for it.
Compared to other romances, there is no antagonist who bullies the main character. Yes, there is someone in the form of Emma who fancies Itsuomi too, but she doesn't hurt Yuki. It's all about the cute moments between Yuki and Itsuomi.
The downside is that side characters are not fully explored. Emma is a beauty, and I wish to see more of her if ever season 2 comes.
§ Conclusion
This is a very cute romance in that it feels like a fairy tale. It is so much idealised and drama-free. Some characters are not explored that much, but that's perhaps a small price to pay. Sometimes watching something drama-free can feel refreshing if you've watched a show full of drama or have been experiencing so much drama in real life. 'A Sign of Affection' might be the type of show you are looking for.
