Dungeon Meshi, Oh Dungeon Meshi.
When this was still releasing, I never thought to pick it up to watch it, thinking it was just some random cooking anime with the gimmick of using monsters to cook. But let me tell you, this show cooked way more than just monster meat.
I've always loved open-world games, exploring an unknown world, feeling like an actual adventurer, that's what brought me to games like Breath of the Wild, Elden Ring and even Genshin. So as an anime fan, I always yearned for something similar, but could never find it. Until deciding to give Dungeon Meshi a shot, and I'm glad I did.
Dungeon Meshi is no doubt one of the best fantasy anime I've ever come across. it has such a rich world, that you can't help but think you're a part of it, with a coherent dungeon system, and incredible detail and thought into the monsters, everything just makes sense.
The characters makes it even more special. This is the type of anime that, just like KonoSuba, has such a captivating main cast, that you could put them in any situation and it would be funny.
And as always, studio Trigger making an awesome job with the animation and directing.
If you like animes like Frieren, Made in Abyss (the exploration part), first season of Mushoku. You will definitely enjoy this one.
9/10 would eat dragon meat
