While it recaps certain parts of the original anime, they are experienced from a different character's viewpoint so I didn't necessarily see it as a "recap." If anything, it adds another level to what we saw from Isagi/Team Z's POV. After all, we got to see more of what took place before Nagi and Reo got to the point we see in the original anime!
The end felt a bit rushed, however, there was only so much "new" content they could show at that point since Nagi played a larger role later in the original anime. So it was understandable that they didn't want to linger on things the audience already saw the first time around. Enough time has passed since I watched the anime and it was nice to get this refresher before the next season!
All in all, I enjoyed seeing the Blue Lock experience through Nagi and Reo's perspectives. I loved both of their characters in the original anime - it felt like a gift to get content focused on their relationship and the paths they take. It helped me better understand what drives both of them on their journey and made me want to cheer them on, even more!
