Preliminary (20/26 eps)
In my short time watching anime, none have made me laugh as hard as Nichijou.
Yes, some of the jokes rely on preexisting knowledge of Japanese culture, and yes, many of the jokes here resort to the simplest of slapstick jokes; but what can I say, it's still just so goddamn funny.

Even though at times the show's absurdist humor has me scratching my head a bit, this show had so many funny moments that had me laugh for a solid few minutes. And even when there aren't any extremely hilarious moments, there has yet to be an episode that has failed to leave me with a cheeky grin on my face by the end of it.

Humor aside, the show also has interesting characters that actually somewhat develop over the course of the series. Aside from certain tropes in some of the characters' personality traits that are over-exaggerated to the extreme for the sake of humor, I think that most of the characters are quite well-designed, especially the main ones.

Lastly, although the simple art style of the show might not suggest it, the show's production value is incredible, and that really shows in certain scenes where certain parts are intentionally over-animated. Additionally, the show's opening and ending themes fit the show so well, and are also great songs in their own right.

This anime has gotten me through a pretty rough time through laughs and wholesomeness, 10/10.
