If you don't mind slower paced anime it is actually perfect. If you are a Shounen fan I recommend you don't watch it because you will only complain that not every episode has a fight scene and that the characters lack the cheerful energy that is expressed through constant shouting of attack names.

Sousou no Frieren is fantasy anime that properly feels like a fantasy anime, with a well thought out, but still very open magic system. It doesn't contain any levelling systems or cheating skills granted by gods that make the world feel like a game. Even if some characters are born with more talent than others, they still have to train and put in work to become strong or refine their magic skills. Most characters will always stay calm and collected during fights, fully aware that even a powerful mage can lose if they don't pay attention and losing means death.

10/10 Plot
The main cast journeys through a fantasy world where the demon king is already defeated, but just like how Sauron's death doesn't mean the end of all evil in Lord of the Rings, some threats - big and small - still remain. The main cast doesn't always face enemies in every episode of their adventure, sometimes they just fulfil menial tasks to help people or to get something they want. The main cast often meets new characters or old friends, makes memories and has to split ways with those new or old friends.

10/10 art style and animation
specially in battle scenes, not just the magic, but also the movement of the characters looks stunning

10/10 voice acting (Japanese)

10/10 music and sound design
The music always matches the mood of the scene perfectly, while always keeping the medieval adventure music style. The sounds of the environment, the magic and battles are done very well and the quality reminds me more of an anime movie than a weekly series.

10/10 characters
Even characters with little screen time ooze personality, the character design, their movement, expressions and especially their magic all show aspects of their personality.
