I don't know... like with the previous movie, I have a lot of mixed feelings.
If I liked the movie, it's because I love Free and because it had very good moments between certain characters, in their development and so on. But, once again, I feel that the series format would have helped develop so many plots better. Personally, the main argument doesn't convince me, nor do I like it. I prefer a natural plot like Sosuke's (a character I didn't like at all at first), than the forced plot that was given to Haru.
The film quickly discards what happened in the previous film and again jumps from scene to scene, with almost no explanatory intervals in between.
Something that really disappointed me were the "enemies": Albert and Kaede. We've been introduced to the two since Dive to the Future and I expected them to have a "battle" or crucial moment with Haru, but that doesn't happen. Spoilers ahead: in Albert's case, we see him talking all the time to his... boss? Manager? At no point does he have a real talk with Haru, nor the rest of the characters. All of his conflicts are experienced alone, not even with the viewer, but rather they happen behind the scenes. Something similar happens with Kaede: in the first film we have a lot of flashbacks that relate Kaede to Haru's trainer, adding a new character who only appears in both of their flashbacks. This first film builds a certain plot that must be exploited at some point, but which dies in the first scenes of this second film. Out of nowhere, after losing to Albert and realizing that he might not be as good as he thought, he stops being an "enemy." He doesn't become one of Haru's friends, nor does he join his group, but suddenly everything is fine with him. Well, in the last scenes, he does approach the group. What bothers me is that since Dive to the Future he has been shown to be a bad person, almost like a bully, and suddenly he's a good boy as the rest, just a little colder. Really? It's as if KyoAni had regretted showing him like that and no longer knew what to do with him. Perhaps, if we had had a full season, he could have been given more development.
Both characters, especially Kaede (who promised so much), fall into nothingness.
My favorite moments involve Nagisa, even if they're few. He's the only character who can turn an undesirable character like Kaede into something resembling a lovable character.
We could say that the series focuses on Haru, with Rin, Ikuya and Sosuke as co-stars. The rest of the characters have an even more secondary role. It was obvious, because there are too many characters, but I would have liked them to also have their moments, not just appearances.
Despite all this, I do like how Haru chooses to resolve his conflicts. I like that, for once, he isn't the best swimmer, nor is there a specific feeling that helps him get out of the situation he finds himself in. It is him and only him and the limits he dares to push. It also shows a more "real" side of Free, which we had not seen until now, except with Sosuke, and which is far from the fantasy that appears at the end of the previous film.
I recommend it? It's a disappointing ending to a series that I love so much. I recommend watching it if you want the series to have an ending.

No sé... como con la película anterior, tengo un montón de sentimientos encontrados.
Si la película me gustó, es porque amo Free y porque tuvo muy buenos momentos entre ciertos personajes, en sus desarrollos y demás. Pero, una vez más, siento que el formato de serie hubiese ayudado a desarrollar mejor tantos argumentos. En lo personal, el argumento principal no me convence, ni me gusta. Prefiero un argumento natural como el de Sosuke (personaje que no me gustaba nada al principio), que el argumento forzado que le adjudicaron a Haru.
La película descarta con rapidez lo que pasó en la película anterior y de nuevo salta de escena en escena, casi sin intervalos explicativos en medio.
Algo que me decepcionó bastante fueron los "enemigos": Albert y Kaede. Se nos vienen presentando a los dos desde Dive to the future y esperaba que tuvieran una "batalla" o momento crucial con Haru, pero no pasa eso. A continuación, spoilers: en el caso de Albert, lo vemos todo el rato hablado con su... ¿jefe? ¿Manager? En ningún momento tiene una charla real con Haru, ni el resto de los personajes. Todos sus conflictos los vive solo, pero tampoco por eso los vive con el espectador, sino que pasan entre bambalinas. Algo similar ocurre con Kaede: en la primera película tenemos un montón de flashbacks que relacionan a Kaede con el entrenador de Haru, añadiendo un nuevo personaje que sólo aparece en los flashbacks de ambos. Esta primera película construye cierto argumento que deberá explotar en algún momento, pero que muere en las primeras escenas de esta segunda película. De la nada, después de perder contra Albert y darse cuenta de que quizá no es tan bueno como pensaba, deja de ser un "enemigo". No se vuelve uno de los amigos de Haru, ni ingresa a su grupo, pero de pronto ya está todo bien con él. Bueno, en las últimas escenas, sí que se acerca al grupo. Lo que me molesta es que desde Dive to the future se lo ha mostrado como una mala persona, casi que como un bully, y de pronto es tan buen chico como los demás, solo que un poco frío. ¿En serio? Es como si KyoAni se hubiese arrepentido de mostrarlo así y ya no supiera que hacer con él. Quizá, si hubiésemos tenido una temporada entera, se le podría haber dado más desarrollo.
Ambos personajes, sobre todo Kaede (que prometía tanto), se quedan en la nada.
Mis momentos favoritos los protagoniza Nagisa, incluso si son pocos. Es el único personaje que puede convertir en un indeseable como Kaede en algo similar a un personaje amable.
Se podría decir que la serie se centra en Haru, teniendo a Rin, Ikuya y Sosuke como co-protagonistas. El resto de los personajes tienen un rol mucho más secundario aún. Era obvio, porque son demasiados personajes, pero me hubiese gustado que tuvieran igualmente sus momentos, no sólo apariciones.
A pesar de todo esto, sí me gusta cómo Haru elige resolver sus conflictos. Me gusta que, por una vez, no sea el mejor nadador, ni haya un sentimiento en específico que lo ayude a salir de la situación en la que se encuentra. Es él y sólo él y los límites que él se atreve a empujar. También muestra un lado más "real" de Free, que no habíamos visto hasta ahora, excepto con Sosuke, y que dista mucho de la fantasía que aparece al final de la película anterior.
¿La recomiendo? Es un final decepcionante para una serie que me gusta tanto. Recomiendo verla si se quiere dar un cierre a la serie.
