Where do I start?
This review will contain spoilers.
'Boy meets Maria' has a very interesting and important premise, but it falls short in its execution. Although it's a single volume, I don't think this is the reason for its poor development, as there are many other single-volume mangas that do manage to develop their story satisfactorily.
What is wrong with 'Boy meets Maria'? The tone. The first chapters are rather comical, although it seems as if the mangaka couldn't quite decide between the funny or sad scenes surrounding Taiga. For Arima it was worst. From the start, I find it extremely interesting that we don't

know what gender he is, and I even think it would have been even more interesting if this had never been revealed. When his arc begins, it does so in the worst possible way. The comical part of the manga disappears, and we make our way through a very graphic abuse scene. This is my problem. You either choose between a funny tone or a tragic one, especially since the reader isn't prepared for such a scene to come out of nowhere. Furthermore, I don't think it was necessary for it to be so graphic, as this aspect adds nothing to the plot. It could have been played with what isn't seen; perhaps if the scene had been more subtle, the funny part of the story wouldn't be so contrasting.
This isn't about censoring anything. As I said, it's about keeping the story cohesive between chapters; the tone can vary depending on the context, but shouldn't go to these extremes.
On the other hand, there's the issue of Arima's gender. It was addressed rather superficially. I think his indecision is valid, and the constant discussion about his gender among the other characters is a clear reflection of the importance society places on the issue. Still, I think it lacked a lot of depth, especially considering why Arima faces this indecision.
Arima's problems with his gender stem not only from physical abuse, but also from the psychological abuse his mother inflicted on him for years. As he himself says, he lived many years of his life believing he was a girl. Due to her selfishness and whims, his mother imposed this gender on him without considering anything else. Is this the same thing other parents do when we are assigned the gender usually associated with our sex at birth? Yes. And, just as this causes a lot of trauma for trans people, it did the same with Arima. He is unable to act on stage as anything other than a woman because he has learned that others only accept and flatter him when he presents himself as such. The first to reject him as a boy was his mother.
But Arima just wants to be Arima.
The rest of the manga's elements didn't really catch my attention. Taiga failed to interest me in the slightest, nor did his obsession with being a hero, something quite trite in Japanese manga/anime. He's just a guy who wants to act and develops a crush on Arima almost instantly.
The fact that Taiga's father was the one who saved Arima seems WAY too convenient to me. I usually hate it when manga artists decide to use these plot devices. I also find it a little funny, and at the same time sad, that Arima is attracted to Taiga, since the things he likes about Taiga are the things that remind him of his savior, his father. What I mean is that it's not Taiga who he likes, but the reminiscence of the feeling of protection that Taiga's character and way of expressing himself evoke in him.
I would have preferred this not to be a love story, but rather a friendship. I think the relationship would have been much more meaningful and things less rushed.
Overall, it's not a reading I recommend. Despite the very interesting themes, as I've said several times, the manga fails to develop them, and there's also the problem of tone. I'm no an expert, but I much preferred Senpai is an Otokonoko, which explores similar themes (I recommend the anime, because the manga's serialization is a bit strange and the art isn't very good).

¿Por dónde empiezo?
Desde ya aviso que hablaré con spoilers.
Boy meets Maria tiene una premisa muy interesante e importante, pero falla en su ejecución. Si bien se trata de un tomo solo, no considero que esta sea razón de su pobre desarrollo, ya que hay muchos otros mangas de un sólo tomo que sí logran desarrollar su historia de forma satisfactoria.
¿Qué sucede con Boy meets Maria? El tono. Los primeros capítulos son más bien cómicos, aunque pareciera que el mangaka no terminaba de decidirse entre las escenas graciosas o las tristes que rodeaban a Taiga. Pero la peor parte se la lleva Arima. Desde el inicio, me resulta sumamente interesante que no sepamos qué género tiene e incluso considero que hubiese sido aún más interesante que esto nunca se revelara. Cuando comienza su arco, lo hace de la peor manera. La parte cómica del manga desaparece y nos abrimos paso a través de una escena de abuso muy gráfica. Este es mi problema. O eliges entre un tono divertido o uno trágico, sobre todo porque el lector no está preparado para que una escena así salga de la nada. Además, no considero necesario que fuera tan gráfico, pues este aspecto no agrega nada a la trama. Podría haberse jugado con lo que no se ve; quizá si la escena hubiese sido más sutil, la parte divertida de la historia no contrastaría tanto.
No se trata de censurar nada. Se trata, como ya dije, de que la historia mantenga una cohesión entre capítulos, un tono que puede ir variando según el contexto, pero que no debería irse a estos extremos.
Por otro lado, está el tema del género de Arima. Se trató de forma bastante superficial. Su indecisión me parecía válida y la constante discusión en torno a su género que tenía el resto de personajes es un reflejo claro de la importancia que la sociedad da al tema. Aún así, creo que le faltó mucha profundidad, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta el por qué Arima se enfrenta a esta indecisión.
Los problemas de Arima con su género no vienen sólo a partir del abuso físico, sino del abuso psicológico que su madre le produjo por años. Como él mismo dice, vivió muchos años de su vida creyendo que era una niña. Debido a su egoísmo y sus caprichos, su madre le impuso este género sin considerar nada más. ¿Es esto lo mismo que hacen el resto de padres cuando se nos asigna el género que usualmente se vincula con nuestro sexo al nacer? Sí. Y, así como esto le genera muchos traumas a las personas trans, así lo hizo con Arima. Este es incapaz de actuar si no es como una mujer, porque aprendió que los demás sólo lo aceptan y lo halagan cuando se presenta como tal. La primera en rechazarlo como un chico fue su madre.
Pero Arima sólo quiere ser Arima.
El resto de elementos del manga no me llamaron mucho la atención. Taiga, para empezar, no logró interesarme en lo más mínimo, ni su obsesión por ser un héroe, algo bastante trillado en los manga/anime japoneses. Es un chico sin más que quiere actuar y desarrolla un crush por Arima casi de forma instantánea.
Que el padre de Taiga haya sido quien salvó a Arima me resulta DEMASIADO conveniente. Usualmente odio cuando los mangakas deciden usar estas facilidades del guión. Además, me resulta un poco gracioso, y a la vez triste, que Arima se sienta atraído por Taiga, ya que aquellas cosas que le atraen del mismo son las que le recuerdan a su salvador, su padre. Es decir... no es Taiga quien le gusta, sino la reminiscencia del sentimiento de protección que la figura y la forma de expresarse de Taiga le producen.
Hubiese preferido que esta no fuera una historia de amor, sino de amistad. Creo que la relación hubiese sido mucho más significativa y las cosas menos apresuradas.
En general, no es una lectura que recomiende. A pesar de que el tema que presenta es muy interesante, como ya dije varias veces, el manga falla en desarrollarlas y también está el tema del tono. No soy una experta, pero preferí mucho más Senpai is an Otokonoko, que explora temáticas similares (recomiendo el anime, porque la serialización del manga es un poco extraña y el dibujo no es muy bueno).

I don't know how to begin to describe how much I loved Blue Period. The funny thing is that for years I thought I wouldn't like it. I don't know exactly why. I thought it would be about a simple art club, but it's so much more than that.
The main reason I liked anime is because of the place art has in it. The themes that are addressed around art, how the characters experience art and why they chose it as a way of life. I was never good at visual art, but I enjoy it a lot and I like to learn

as much as possible about what's behind the art pieces. In that sense, Blue Period gave me everything. I also really liked the technical parts and found them VERY interesting, although the relationship of the characters with their own art was the best of all.
I really liked the animation and the drawing style. The mangaka has a particular style that is very expressive.
The characters seemed very real to me. They all have their own demons and are vulnerable, but stubborn. Everyone has a different relationship with art and a different way of expressing themselves through it. Everyone also has different goals and purposes when it comes to art.
I really liked Yatora. I connected a lot with him and found him to be an admirable person in terms of his tenacity and willpower. If I were him, I would have probably given up much earlier or not even tried.
My favorite character, on the other hand, was Ryuuji. I didn't expect to find a character from the LGBTQAI+ community in Blue Period, although I probably should have, considering its subject. What I liked most is that Ryuuji is not simply a scapegoat or the laughing stock of the anime, but a real person who is trying to make a place for themselves in the world just like the rest of the characters. And, above all, I liked their relationship with Yatora. Considering that it is not an anime that focuses on the subject of sexuality and gender, I think it is important that the subject is taken with the seriousness it deserves. In that sense, Ryuuji, or Yuka, is not Yatora's weird friend, but simply their friend. I found the scene at the motel beautiful.
Watching Blue Period made me miss being surrounded by art or studying art a lot, and it also encouraged me to do it again. I recommend it to anyone, but especially to art fans like me. I will definitely be watching a second season if it comes out, but in the meantime I will jump to the manga because I really like the author's style.

No sé cómo comenzar a describir lo mucho que amé Blue Period. Lo gracioso es que, por años, pensé que no me gustaría. No sé exactamente por qué. Pensé que trataría de un simple club de arte, pero es muchísimo más que eso.
La razón principal por la que me gustó el anime es por el lugar que el arte ocupa en este. Los temas que se abordan en torno al arte, cómo los personajes viven el arte y por qué es que lo eligieron como forma de vida. Nunca fui buena para el arte visual, pero lo disfruto mucho y me gusta aprender lo más posible sobre lo que hay detrás de las obras. En ese sentido, Blue Period me lo dio todo. Las partes técnicas también me gustaron mucho y me parecieron MUY interesantes, aunque la relación de los personajes con su propio arte fue lo mejor de todo.
La animación y el estilo de dibujo me gustaron muchísimo. La mangaka tiene un estilo particular que resulta muy expresivo.
Los personajes me parecieron muy reales. Todos tienen sus propios demonios y son vulnerables, pero obstinados. Cada uno tiene una relación diferente con el arte y una forma diferente de expresarse a través de él. También cada uno tiene metas y propósitos diferentes en cuanto al arte se refiere.
Yatora me gustó muchísimo. Conecté mucho con él y me resultó una persona admirable en cuanto a su tenacidad y su fuerza de voluntad. Yo en su lugar seguro hubiese abandonado mucho antes o ni siquiera lo hubiera intentado.
Mi personaje favorito, por otro lado, fue Ryuuji. No esperaba encontrarme a un personaje de la comunidad LGBTQAI+ en Blue Period, aunque seguro tendría que haberlo hecho, teniendo en cuenta su temática. Lo que más me gustó es que Ryuuji no es simplemente un chivo expiatorio o el hazme reír del anime, sino una persona real que está intentando hacerse un lugar en el mundo igual que el resto de personajes. Y, sobre todo, me gustó su relación con Yatora. Teniendo en cuenta que no es un anime que se centre en la temática de sexualidad y género, me parece importante que se tomara el tema con la seriedad que merece. En ese sentido, Ryuuji, o Yuka, no es el amigo raro de Yatora, sino simplemente su amigo. La escena en el motel me pareció preciosa.
Ver Blue Period me hizo extrañar mucho estar rodeada de arte o estudiando arte, además me incentivó a hacerlo nuevamente. Se lo recomiendo a cualquier persona, pero sobre todo a aficionados al arte como yo. Sin duda estaré viendo una segunda temporada si sale, pero mientras tanto saltaré al manga porque el estilo de la autora me gusta mucho.

This is my kind of anime, so I thought I would like it or at least find it entertaining, especially since I really liked Hyouka. Maybe it just wasn't the right time to watch it, because I found it very boring.
I don't have great things to say about the anime. I don't think the story was bad, but I don't think it's for everyone either. Most of the time, the situations seemed very stilted and convenient, especially the solutions or the ways they arrived at the solutions to the mysteries. Mostly in the last two episodes.

seen in a LONG time. I didn't like her at all. The rest of the characters are okay, although I don't think any of them stand out or have anything of their own to say. I understand Osanai and Kobato's conflict, but at the same time I think it needed more development so that the viewer could connect with them. Especially with Osanai, because I never really understood what made her 'not-normal', besides the fact that she was unbearable.
The animation, the colors, the designs and the backgrounds are beautiful. That's for sure.
I definitely won't be watching the second season.

Este es mi tipo de anime, así que pensé que me gustaría o al menos me resultaría entretenido, sobre todo porque Hyouka me gustó muchísimo. Quizá simplemente no fue el momento indicado para verlo, porque me resultó muy aburrido.
No tengo grandes cosas que decir acerca del anime. No creo que su historia fuera mala, pero tampoco creo que sea para todo el mundo. La mayoría del tiempo las situaciones me parecían muy rebuscadas y convenientes, sobre todo las soluciones o las formas a las que llegaban a las soluciones de los misterios. En especial los últimos dos episodios.
Además, Osanai es la persona más manipuladora que he visto en MUCHO tiempo. No me gustó para nada. El resto de los personajes está bien, aunque no creo que ninguno sobresalga, ni tenga algo propio que contar. Entiendo el conflicto de Osanai y de Kobato, pero al mismo tiempo creo que faltó desarrollarlo más para que el espectador pueda conectar con ellos. Sobre todo con Osanai, porque nunca entendí realmente qué es lo que la hacía ser ‘no-normal’, además de que era insoportable.
La animación, los colores, los diseños y los fondos son preciosos. Eso sí.
Definitivamente no veré la segunda temporada.

I didn't think I would like it as much as I did.
I started watching the anime because I thought it would be interesting to watch, but at the same time I had no expectations and I wanted to watch something entertaining. And it was! I really enjoyed watching it every Monday while it was on. It was like watching a romcom full of drama and lots of funny scenes.
I don't recommend taking it seriously and much less expecting the romance to develop. If you're expecting a romance anime, you're not going to find it. It does have certain situations that build up the

romance, but it's not something that happens in the anime, nor do I think it's close to happening in the rest of the story.
The same goes for the +16 part of the anime. There is blood when they fight, but there are no big scenes of violence, nor explicit sexual scenes. There is nothing that is graphic. It is quite soft in that sense.
I really liked the characters, especially Yoshino. I liked that she didn't go to extremes. She could be feminine and vulnerable, but also assert her limits and defend herself or others. She's also quite intelligent and proactive, something I appreciate because I prefer those types of characters, especially the femenine ones.
I couldn't stand Kirishima most of the time. I was annoyed by everything about him, mainly that he doesn't care about anything and has that annoying little smile on his face. The only good thing I'll say about him is that, although he is a manipulator, he respects Yoshino's boundaries and those of other people in general.
The drawing style seemed original to me, although it's not one of my favorites. The animation did seem pretty mediocre to me. It's not the worst in the world, but it's far from good. Sometimes they looked like robots walking.
Apparently there are problems with the publication of the manga and it's not known if or when it will continue. Personally, I would watch a second season because I had a great time watching the first one, but it's not a story that caught my attention, and I'm not dying to know how it continues.
I recommend watching it if you want to see something light and entertaining.

No pensé que me gustaría tanto como lo hizo.
Comencé viendo el anime porque pensé que sería interesante de ver, pero al mismo tiempo no tenía expectativas y quería mirar algo entretenido. ¡Y lo fue! Disfruté mucho de verlo cada lunes mientras estaba en emisión. Era como ver una telenovela llena de drama y muchas escenas graciosas.
No recomiendo tomárselo en serio y mucho menos esperar que el romance se desarrolle. Si esperan que se trate de un anime romántico, no lo van a encontrar. Sí tiene ciertas situaciones que van construyendo el romance, pero no es algo que pase en el anime, ni creo que esté cerca de suceder en el resto de la historia.
Lo mismo va para la parte +16 del anime. Sí hay sangre cuando pelean, pero no hay grandes escenas de violencia, ni escenas sexuales explícitas. No hay nada que sea gráfico. Es bastante suave en ese sentido.
Los personajes me gustaron bastante, sobre todo Yoshino. Me gustaba que no se fuera a los extremos. Podía ser femenina y vulnerable, pero también hacer valer sus límites y defenderse a sí misma o a otros. También es bastante inteligente y proactiva, algo que agradezco porque prefiero ese tipo de personajes, sobre todo si son femeninos.
A Kirishima no lo aguanté la mayor parte del tiempo. Me molestaba todo de él, principalmente que todo le importe poco y esté con esa sonrisita molesta. Lo único bueno que diré de él es que, si bien es un manipulador, respeta los límites de Yoshino y de otras personas en general.
El estilo de dibujo me pareció novedoso, aunque no es de mis favoritos. La animación sí me resultó bastante mediocre. No es lo peor del mundo, pero está lejos de ser buena. A veces parecían robots caminando.
Al parecer hay problemas con la publicación del manga y no se sabe si continuará o cuándo. En lo personal, miraría una segunda temporada porque la pasé muy bien mirando la primera, pero tampoco es una historia que me haya atrapado, ni me muero por saber cómo sigue.
Recomiendo verlo si quieren ver algo ligero y entretenido.

It's not a bad anime, but it's very boring. The idea behind it is interesting, but I don't think it was executed in the best way. The only episode I liked was the fourth, because it puts Kanbe in a different situation that he has to adapt to. Unfortunately, we go back to normal afterwards.
Towards the middle of the series, it stops being episodic and there is only one conflict to face. I saw the resolution coming long before I knew that conflict would arise.
The characters are okay. Clichés, without much to add.
I honestly don't recommend wasting your time watching it.

No es un anime malo, pero es muy aburrido. La idea detrás es interesante, pero no creo que haya sido ejecutada de la mejor manera. El único episodio que me gustó fue el cuarto, porque pone a Kanbe en una situación diferente a la que tiene que adaptarse. Por mala suerte, después volvemos a la normalidad.
Hacia la mitad de la serie, esta deja de ser episódica y hay un único conflicto al que enfrentarse. Me vi venir la resolución mucho antes de saber que se plantearía ese conflicto.
Los personajes están bien. Clichés, sin mucho que agregar.
Sinceramente, no recomiendo que pierdan su tiempo viéndolo.

It was so... bad.
The story is VERY cliché and it develops from one moment to the next. The anime adapts the three individual volumes that make up this world, each one focusing on a couple, but most of the trailers focus on the first one, so I wasn't expecting the rest. I was wondering how they would develop the story of a single volume into twelve episodes. I expected them to do the same thing that the studio that animated 'Given' did, which was to add more scenes and develop the story a bit more. I would have preferred that.
The film club is

interesting, but it's nothing more than an excuse to develop the stories.
The characters are clichés to the core. The only ones that are saved a bit are the first couple. The second one was pretty good, but the third one... horrible. It was uncomfortable to watch in many ways. It's been a while since I saw such unbearable characters.
I don't recommend watching it at all. There are many other BLs (if that's what you're looking for) that are much better.

Fue tan... malo.
La historia es MUY cliché y se desarrolla de un momento al otro. El anime adapta los tres tomos individuales que conforman este mundo, centrados cada uno en una pareja, pero la mayoría de los trailers se centran en la primera de ellas, por lo que yo no me esperaba al resto. Me preguntaba cómo harían para desarrollar la historia de un solo tomo en doce episodios. Me esperaba que hicieran lo mismo que hizo el estudio que animó ‘Given’, que agregaron más escenas y desarrollaron un poco más la historia. Lo hubiese preferido.
El club de cine es interesante, pero no es más que una excusa para desarrollar las historias.
Los personajes son clichés hasta la médula. Los únicos que se salvan un poco son la primera pareja. La segunda estuvo bastante bien, pero la tercera... horrible. Fue incómodo de ver en muchos aspectos. Hace tiempo que no veía personajes tan insoportables.
No recomiendo verlo para nada. Hay muchos otros BLs (si es lo que están buscando) mucho mejores.

I liked the first part a lot more than the second. The conflicts in the palace and the mystery behind the emperor seem a thousand times more interesting to me than the monkeys. In fact, when they appeared in the story I was like: what is this?
The first part has a much bigger element of mystery than the second part. It reminded me a lot of ‘The Apothecary’s Diaries’. Also, the characters that are introduced in the second part didn’t manage to interest me either.
The animation is amazing and I really liked the drawing style. Also, I found the world of the Yatagarasu

very interesting, with all its hierarchies and legends. At first I had a bit of trouble understanding the subject of hierarchies, but the story gradually introduces you to the details.
I really liked the characters, especially the main ones. Although they follow certain tropes, I don’t consider them to be clichés. Also, I loved that no one seemed to be who they really are!
It's an anime that develops slowly, but it's very enjoyable and it's not until the second part, as I said, that I started to get a little bored. I still highly recommend it and if there is a second season I will definitely be watching it.

La primera parte me gustó mucho más que la segunda. Los conflictos del palacio y el misterio detrás del emperador me parecen mil veces más interesantes que los monos. De hecho, cuando estos aparecieron en la historia quedé como: ¿qué es esto?
La primera parte tiene un elemento de misterio mucho mayor que la segunda parte. Me recordaba mucho a ‘Los diaros de la boticaria’. Además, los personajes que se introducen en la segunda parte tampoco lograron gustarme o interesarme.
La animación está increíble y el estilo de dibujo me gustó mucho. Además, el mundo de los Yatagarasu me resultó muy interesante, con todas sus jerarquías y leyendas. Al principio me costó entender un poco el tema de las jerarquías, pero la historia te adentra poco a poco a los detalles.
Los personajes me gustaron bastante, sobre todo los principales. Si bien siguen ciertos tropos, no considero que sean clichés. Además, ¡amé que nadie pareciera ser quien realmente es!
Es un anime que se desarrolla de forma lenta, pero es muy disfrutable y no es hasta la segunda parte, como ya dije, que comenzó a aburrirme un poco. Igualmente lo recomiendo muchísimo y si hay una segunda temporada la estaré viendo sin dudas.

I was expecting something else.
The anime presents two very different scenarios: the nursery and the action one. Even though it could have been a good combination, the anime doesn't go into any depth and in the end the mix is a bit chaotic. Personally, I would have preferred to see a lot more of the nursery and the relationship of these parents with their children. That's the reason I started watching the anime in the first place. But, if it had focused more on the action, I would have preferred it to do it well.
The antagonists and Trump didn't interest me in the

slightest. Like the rest of the plot, they were developed superficially and didn't generate any interest in me. If they hadn't been in the anime, it would have been much better.
I really liked the animation and the drawing style, as well as the little we got to see of the world in which the story is set. That's the only thing I can highlight about the anime.
The characters are quite cliché and don't have any kind of development, except maybe for the children. The problem is that their development is not gradual and is not directly associated with their parents, which would have made more sense and would have strengthened their relationship with them.
I wouldn't say it's exactly bad, but it's far from good. I don't recommend it.

Me esperaba otra cosa.
El anime plantea dos escenarios muy diferentes: el de la guardería y el de la acción. A pesar de que pudo haber sido una buena combinación, el anime no profundiza en ninguno y al final la mezcla es un poco caótica. En lo personal, hubiese preferido ver mucho más de la guardería y de la relación de estos padres con sus hijos. Esa es la razón por la que comencé a ver el anime en primer lugar. Pero, en el caso que se hubiese centrado más en la acción, hubiese preferido que lo haga bien.
Los antagonistas y Trump no me interesaron en lo más mínimo. Al igual que el resto de la trama, fueron desarrollados de forma superficial y no me generaron ningún interés. Si no hubiesen estado en el anime, este hubiese sido muchísimo mejor.
La animación y el estilo de dibujo me gustaron muchísimo, al igual que lo poco que llegamos a ver del mundo en el que se situa la historia. Es lo único que puedo destacar del anime.
Los personajes son bastante clichés y no tienen ningún tipo de desarrollo, excepto quizá por los niños. El problema es que el desarrollo de estos no es gradual y no está asociado directamente a sus padres, que hubiese tenido más sentido y hubiese estrechado más su relación con ellos.
No diría que es exactamente malo, pero está muy lejos de ser bueno. No lo recomiendo.

To sum it up: I cried.
I recommend that you read the manga and not watch the anime, even though it has four very short episodes. The manga goes much further and presents a much more realistic and profound life experience. The anime is super sugary and very superficial.
As a person who has cats and loves her cats more than anything in the world, the manga touched me a lot. It's not just a slice of life where we see a girl doing things with her cat, but a true life experience, as I said.
I think that many people can identify with the protagonist

and feel her pain and understand that existential emptiness that is so common today. From her relationship with other people, the lack of fulfillment in her work, that feeling of not going anywhere or achieving anything, or the little energy we sometimes have to do the smallest tasks of everyday life.
I really like the ending. At first it seemed like it was going in a direction that I wasn't convinced by, but it ends up taking a path that I found much more appropriate and, to a certain extent, hopeful. Spoiler: the protagonist is seeing a coworker, although at first she didn't want to, and she seemed to be having a good time, but... the cat and the reader know that it's not a good decision. The emptiness won't go away by being in a relationship and there's no need, above all, to be with someone we're not truly attracted to just because it's what we're supposed to do if we want to feel fulfilled in life. When she decides to break up with this person and focus on taking care of herself, everything makes a lot more sense.
Overall, it's a bittersweet manga. It shows you the loneliness, sadness, and darkness of living a life alone that's not what you dreamed of, and you don't know what to do with it, but it also shows you the little moments, the rays of hope. I highly recommend it.

Para resumir: lloré.
Recomiendo que lean el manga y no vean el anime, por más que este cuente con cuatro episodios muy cortos. El manga va mucho más allá y plantea una experiencia de vida mucho más realista y profunda. El anime está súper edulcorado y es muy superficial.
Como persona que tiene gatos y ama a sus gatos más que nada en el mundo, el manga me conmovió mucho. No es sólo un slice of life en el que vemos a una chica hacer cosas con su gato, sino una verdadera experiencia de vida, como ya dije.
Considero que muchas personas se pueden identificar con la protagonista y sentir su dolor y comprender ese vacío existencial que es tan común hoy en día. Desde su relación con otras personas, la falta de realización en su trabajo, ese sentimiento de no estar yendo a ningún lado ni logrando nada, o la poca energía que tenemos a veces para hacer las tareas más pequeñas del día a día.
El final me gusta muchísimo. Al principio parecía que tomaría un rumbo que no me estaba convenciendo, pero termina tomando un camino que me resultó mucho más apropiado y, en cierta medida, esperanzador. Spoiler: la protagonista está viéndose con un compañero de trabajo, aunque al principio no quería, y parecía estar pasándoselo bien, pero... el gato y el lector sabemos que no es una buena decisión. El vacío no se irá por estar en una relación y no hay necesidad, sobre todo, de estar con alguien hacia el que no nos sentimos atraídos de verdad sólo porque es lo que se supone que debemos hacer si queremos sentirnos realizados en la vida. Cuando decide terminar con esta persona y centrarse en cuidar de sí misma, todo toma muchísimo más sentido.
En general, es un manga agridulce. Te muestra la soledad, la tristeza y la oscuridad de vivir una vida a solas que no es lo que soñabas, ni sabes qué hacer con ella, pero también te muestra los pequeños momentos, los rayitos de esperanza. Lo recomiendo mucho.

I definitely recommend reading the manga instead of watching the anime. The latter deals with its themes very superficially. Also, it changes a lot of things for the worse, because these changes take away depth and make it an average anime. The drawing is much better in the manga as well.
While the manga is not a masterpiece, it set out many interesting and sensitive issues, which the anime simply trivializes. Even the relationship between the girl and her cat is different.

Definitivamente recomiendo mucho más leer el manga. El anime trata sus temas de forma muy superficial. Además, cambia un montón de cosas para mal, porque estos cambios le quitan profundidad y lo vuelven un anime promedio. El dibujo es muchísimo mejor en el manga también.
Si bien el manga no es una obra maestra, plantea muchos temas interesantes y sensibles, que el anime simplemente banaliza. Incluso la relación entre la chica y su gato es diferente.
Vi ‘Blue Period’ después de ver ‘Ella y su gato’, y me sorprendió gratamente saber que ambos mangas son de la misma autora.
