I'm sure you've heard it before but Demon Slayer really is that good.

It's arguably one of the best Shonen anime of the 21st century.

The story is set in 1800s Japan where a fictionalized group hunts demons plaguing Japan led by a Michael Jackson lookalike. The setting is a real world historical backdrop although it doesn't play a pivotal role.

The story follows a boy whose family was slaughtered by demons except for his younger sister Nezuko who was turned into one, he must protect Nezuko from other demon slayers as well as find the man who killed his family and exact revenge.

What is the main appeal of the show? Why is it so good? It's the characters and the animation.

The animation is GORGEOUS. It's very heavily shaded and just looks fantastic. The fight scenes are incredibly well done and a delight to watch.

The characters are very well written and develop though the course of the series. There's a total coward who can only use 1 special skill but is a complete beast at it and an overly masculine shirtless idiot with a feminine face who wears a boar mask and just wants to be the strongest.

The main character Tanjiro is a kind and innocent boy who has to become strong because he has to.

The show is filled with dark moments and all kinds of twists. There isn't any filler, its a straight path like in the manga. Like any Shonen there is humor sprinkled thoughout

The show does humor very well and some moments actually made me laugh out loud.

There are moments where you'll also cry. I won't spoil but there are deaths you won't see coming and moments that will actually shock you.

The sound is good and both the sub/dub are on equal standings.

I'm almost 30 and I've rarely seen an anime or manga as well written and interesting as demon slayer.

It's just that good. It's even worth re-watching if you ask me.
