A young man awakens a dangerous supernatural power that has no place in human society. He is effectively an outcast on the run from a government that wants to conduct inhumane experimentation on him and does what he can to survive until he encounters a man that changes everything.
Ajin: Demi-Human's premise is that there are supernatural entities that synergize with mankind, effectively making those who are compatible immortal, highly regenerative, and unkillable under most conventional circumstances. It is a power comparable to Stands in JoJo or to personas in Shin Megami Tensei. The application of these powers are utilized in creative and rational ways.
The story is solid and driven by a compelling antagonist that sows chaos in his every unpredictable movement as he is seeking to undermine the government and turn what other Ajin he can against the government. The characters are well-written overall and have clearly defined motives and goals that they are working towards. Their personal growth and development occurs naturally.
The artwork is great, clean, and detailed. The paneling and scene compositions are solid. The pacing is great and the story does not overstay its welcome.
If you are seeking a story with suspense, action, and supernatural elements then I strongly recommend Ajin: Demi-Human. It is a prime example of great execution of used concepts.
