I do admit, though, that the weak points of the show are enough to bring it down from an absolute masterpiece of the isekai genre to just an amazingly enjoyable show. For example, the animation and fight choreography are subpar, which should not be a thing, since it is an action-oriented anime. Also (this is not for everyone, but for me, it is kind of a nuisance), the unnecessary fan service (which, I get it, is part of the absurd-feeling/comedic aspect of the anime) is just in my face all the time. But I feel like it is not as relevant as in other ecchi-like anime, since our badass protagonist does not give a f about the flying boobs in his face (what a chad). Which brings me to my next point: Cid f-ing Kagenou.
Cid is easily, and I mean EASILY, in my top 3 isekai protagonists of all time. He is not just another OP isekai protagonist. He is the embodiment of badass, cringe, and absolute f-ing madness. As they say, the line between genius and madness is very, very thin. I get it, it might be hard to get used to his lines like "I need more power" and "I am atomic", but it is so vital to the greatness of the series. It shows us, viewers, that to be the most badass person possible, we need to sacrifice something. Sometimes that means acting as an npc in public but being a vigilante secretly (just like Batman, but no one makes fun of Batman because unfortunately, he is not as crazy as Cid lol), and other times that means letting go of your ego and acting like Cid does (although he does not sacrifice his ego, for he does not even notice that acting like that actually makes him seem a little cringe). In the end, it shows us that even though we get through the chuunibyou phase, the chuunibyou phase does not get out of us, and that is great because it can be so fun.
If you do not know what a good isekai is, please watch this. Do not mind the animation, I know it's mid. Anyways, this is a 10/10 masterpiece.
