I love this show. I love (almost) everything about it. OP protagonist? We have it. Intricate plot with an actual interesting isekai story? Yes. Does the isekai story go from great to perfect just because of the protagonist's sheer existence? Hell yeah. Amazing comedy? How many times am I going to have to say yes!?
I do admit, though, that the weak points of the show are enough to bring it down from an absolute masterpiece of the isekai genre to just an amazingly enjoyable show. For example, the animation and fight choreography are subpar, which should not be a thing, since it is an
...
action-oriented anime. Also (this is not for everyone, but for me, it is kind of a nuisance), the unnecessary fan service (which, I get it, is part of the absurd-feeling/comedic aspect of the anime) is just in my face all the time. But I feel like it is not as relevant as in other ecchi-like anime, since our badass protagonist does not give a f about the flying boobs in his face (what a chad). Which brings me to my next point: Cid f-ing Kagenou.
Cid is easily, and I mean EASILY, in my top 3 isekai protagonists of all time. He is not just another OP isekai protagonist. He is the embodiment of badass, cringe, and absolute f-ing madness. As they say, the line between genius and madness is very, very thin. I get it, it might be hard to get used to his lines like "I need more power" and "I am atomic", but it is so vital to the greatness of the series. It shows us, viewers, that to be the most badass person possible, we need to sacrifice something. Sometimes that means acting as an npc in public but being a vigilante secretly (just like Batman, but no one makes fun of Batman because unfortunately, he is not as crazy as Cid lol), and other times that means letting go of your ego and acting like Cid does (although he does not sacrifice his ego, for he does not even notice that acting like that actually makes him seem a little cringe). In the end, it shows us that even though we get through the chuunibyou phase, the chuunibyou phase does not get out of us, and that is great because it can be so fun.
If you do not know what a good isekai is, please watch this. Do not mind the animation, I know it's mid. Anyways, this is a 10/10 masterpiece.

I'll just get this out of the way: this Vinland Saga season is either so intellectually crafted that my pea brain could not understand its perfection, or it is really just overrated by the community.
I get the point that Thorfinn develops in a fascinating way, reaching a conclusion that most people are afraid of facing, but I felt like it was a bit forced. Yes, the events of the first season (especially the ending) are impactful in many ways, both to Thorfinn and to the reader, and the fact that Thorfinn's father was how he was has influenced his mentality. But it just feels
...
unrealistic to me. It would be great if people actually came to realize what he did, but that just does not happen, because we are human. Besides, even though I really liked Einar, I do not really see how he is worthy of having that much screen time. He is not important enough to the plot's progression nor to Thorfinn's development that the amount of him we see is reasonable. But again, I really do like his character.
Anyways, I can agree that the visuals and soundtrack are amazing, and like the first season (even though I do prefer the first season by a mile), it is splendid. I am anxious to see how the story will unfold from now on.

Beautifully animated and drawn, characters with engaging personalities, and most importantly, original. This is how I'd define "Oshi No Ko". However, it is important to mention that it is far, and I mean very far, from being an actual masterpiece.
At first, when we are introduced to Amemiya, I was, well, skeptical. Even though his character seems too serious to be realistic, the author finds a way out of this by making him idolize an underage girl? But sure. Even though it seemed romantic at first, we learn that it is pure fanatism (which is better than wanting to date a teenager). Still kind of
...
weird though. I get that it came from his patient that died of cancer, but, like his seriousness, too far off from reality. However, when you put these 'unrealistic' aspects aside, the show is great. I have never seen any anime like this.
Doga Kobo managed to show the power of animation. While Akasaka-sensei's manga is amazing, there are just some aspects that cannot be transmitted through black and white panels. From the colors to the coreography, and to the way they animate the characters themselves in their daily lives, the animation studio brought it all to the max. Which brings me to my next point: the characters.
A problem I find with most anime is that every character besides the protagonist is boring. No personality. No COLORS. But I love the use of colors in Oshi No Ko. They give each character even more of a personality, which by the way, is not lacking at all. There are characters I love, there are characters I hate, but I rarely found myself thinking "what is the point of this characters existence in the story?". That is what I most love about this anime. Anyways, I love Arima Kana.
What I believe, though, that makes this series so special is its originality. Getting to know the 'backstage' of digital media in Japan is so interesting. And it shows us everything. From idols, to streamers, to actors. Obviously, it has its problems, but I do not think that it is supposed to be 100% accurate. The plot needs to be different than your average idol anime. And it is. While, as I mentioned before, the reason for the obsession with Ai is not really believable, you kind of get used to it. You accept it. And when you do, the show's purpose starts to shine. I have already read the manga and I must say, it surprised me. I did not think the author would actually continue to make the plot progress so strictly towards the protagonist's objective. Anyway, this is all.
I do recommend this show to anyone who watches anime, or any kind of media really. Just be prepared to deal with unrealistic motivations. And rooting for side characters. I hate you Akane.
