The character design is a return to the simple face styling of Lerche's Carnival Phantasm (known by some as "advanced potato face") which I think is nice to look at, while the art style of the background is fittingly detailed.
The story is generally a fun parody of isekai/fantasy tropes. Nevertheless, the characters are likable, and are well developed in their own right. Frieren in particular is very enjoyable to watch reacting to the events of the show. Even if you don't generally enjoy fantasy settings, this anime is a good watch.
