art is gorgeous. worldbuilding can be a bit confusing. there is a constellation patronage type magic system, which is fun at times, and overcomplex and dues ex machina at others. the male lead is a really fun guy- has a lot of depth, interesting backstory and motivations. he actually feels like he would be the main character of his own story instead of a sexy piece of wood. female lead can be funny at times. the real star is agnes, who provides the typical ghost mentor drill sargent humor bit. there's a lot of humor, and the jokes don't always land for me. decent read though.
