Preliminary (10/10 chp)
tl;dr: Don’t bother with this and watch the anime or read the novels instead.

This manga is a really brief introduction to Log Horizon, only a single volume long. I have not yet read the novels so I can’t compare it to that, but it essentially adapts the equivalent of episode 3 and 4 of the anime. It tries to convey what’s important from episodes 1-2 as well through flashbacks, but it glosses over most everything. Thus, it really doesn’t feel like the manga does a good job of explaining things, and that’s coming from someone that’s already seen the anime. I imagine for someone with no experience with the franchise it may feel pretty hard to follow. As such, while the manga certainly isn’t terrible, I find it hard to think of any reason to actually read it. The portion of the story the manga covers is so short that I doubt anyone would be satisfied with just that. And it’s not like the art in the manga is especially great either. Thus, if you want to get into Log Horizon, there’s no reason to waste time on this manga and not just go straight to the anime or novels.
