Jumped into "Another" expecting spine-tingling chills, and in terms of atmosphere, it genuinely delivered. The whole "cursed class" theme felt fresh and wasn't something I've come across often. But while the plot kept me engaged, I found it somewhat predictable, perhaps due to my affinity for the horror-mystery genre.
Visually, the art style was spot on - dark, moody, and perfectly fitting for such a creepy storyline. It accentuated the suspense, and the intricate details in certain scenes enhanced the overall eerie vibes.
Character-wise, I had mixed feelings. On the one hand, I appreciated that Kouichi and Mei weren't the typical invincible protagonists. They had their flaws, which added some layers to their personas. However, their development felt lacking, and at times their reactions to certain events seemed a tad unrealistic.
If you're someone who deeply invests in character arcs and emotions, "Another" might fall short. But, if you're here for the suspense, eerie art, and a somewhat unique plot, it's worth a watch. I can see many enjoying this series purely for its dark atmosphere and suspense, even if I yearned for more depth in its characters.
