Mixed Feelings
Spoiler
This review contains minor spoilers, listed in the "genres" part of my review, which is also the last section.

Will this anime change your life? No, definitely not. But it was far from unenjoyable. It's a nice level of comfort food that will make you feel good by the time you're done.
The plot isn't too heavy: Girl who is supposed to have powers doesn't have them, but gets them unconventionally and has to hide that fact until she's strong enough. The show follows her story as she tries to prove herself to those around her. I want to mention this early, but the conclusion was very satisfying. You won't walk away wishing something was different. However, the journey until the halfway point will be a bit lacking.

Sound:
The intro and outro songs are both great. The intro is fun to listen to, and the outro is perfectly somber. The soundtrack during the show itself stays true to the emotions they try to bring, and nothing was out of place. No complaints about the voice actors either. Sound effects for all the mana usage was not out of place either, which I would consider a good thing. 7.

Animation:
The animation can look a little goofy at times, specifically during high-movement scenes. However, the animation work right before these scenes and right after stood out to me the most as "well done". It gives me the feeling of "they really wanted to make it shine, but didn't have the budget to make it perfect during critical moments". 6.

Characters:
Side characters are on the "meh" side. I didn't care for them too much, but they keep the plot moving. The real meat is between the two main characters and seeing Melida and/or Kufa kick some butt. 5.

Genre/spoilers:
I was surprised at how many genres they tucked into this anime. I consider it an action anime first and foremost, since every episode has something in line with that. Its secondary genre would be romance, and it does not feel out of place because of how heartwarming it is (as far as a student falling in love with teacher goes). There are a couple of ecchi moments that'll make you shake your head and smile, but they are limited in number and duration. There are also depictions of dead/attacked children, which caught me off guard since it basically went from 0 to 60, but it added a sense of urgency to how bad the situation really was. Overall, I think they handled this mix of genres pretty well. 7.
