Maybe it's because I'd just come off a long streak of more action-oriented shonen, but this series hit me like a breath of fresh air. There's good, and then there's the kind of good that keeps me up past my bedtime and forces me to try & ration the episodes out over a few days. This is one of those, though not for the usual reasons.

Excellent, subtle characterization and, as others have mentioned, sophisticated dialog are strengths. I found myself grinning in delight many times at the banter between Holo and Lawrence, especially enjoying the voice acting on the English dub.

I'll admit, I didn't grasp all of the economic concepts involved but for me that was of secondary importance to the development of their relationship. And besides, I'll definitely re-watch down the road and get plenty more changes to unravel things like poisoned credit and currency trading.

The artwork is excellent, very detailed and in some places truly beautiful. But my eyes were only for Holo, waiting for the next appearance of that wolfish grin! All-in-all this was such a unique anime that I was inspired to write my very first review.
