I was way off, it’s actually really funny. The top review on here that cites Poe’s Law, I think that guy genuinely just doesn’t get jokes. The thing about this show is the humor is dry, there aren’t really punchlines, it doesn’t shove things in your face, but the situations themselves in context (both the context of the shows purpose and the context of the characters’ backgrounds and motivations) are what make the jokes, jokes.
So if you’re able to read between the lines and like dry, dead pan humor, then you’ll like the show. This show is way more One Punch Man than it will ever be Over Lord. In fact everything wrong with Over Lord EitS does right. And it made me laugh out loud more than OPM ever did and the underlying plot is more engaging. I never expected an Isekai could be this good. That being said this is just a parody tv show that’s done well. It isn’t a masterpiece it’s nothing exceptional. But it’s very fun and executed well.
Realistically it’s a strong 7 but it’s a light 8 to me purely based off personal enjoyment.
