The characters are well-built, and each one's got a good reason for the choices they make, which adds a nice touch to the anime, even though I kinda hold a grudge against Thorfinn. And let me tell ya, the overall story is pretty darn sad, there's not a single moment where you're all like, "Yay, go character!" or pumped up for some event, except during the epic fight scenes.
Anyway, I believe there are better animes out there, but hey, no judgment to those who dig Vinland Saga. Maybe the whole Viking theme just didn't quite click with me, I'll still check out the second season, but I ain't getting my hopes up too high.
