Detective Conan Movies Rewatch Before Watching Movie 26: Movie 20

Movie 20 deviates significantly from a typical DC movie, as it does not focus on mystery this time, but focuses fully on being an action thriller. In addition, the movie is much more focused on characters and relationships, as the movie delves a lot into DB's blossoming friendship with Curacao. As long as the movie executes well on the genre and the theme, it is okay for a DC movie to not have a good mystery, and movie 20 does execute well...for the most part.

Curacao is unique among BO agents, as she is the first one since Haibara to fully betray the BO. It was touching for the movie to use the Detective Boys to tell a story of how a BO agent turns to the light side, but that's also a double-edged sword because it is balancing a tightrope trying to keep the kids from being nuisances, and the movie does cross the line of being annoying to watch at times because of the kids.

With that being said, ignoring some of the scenes with the Detective Boys, the movie is excellent. Top-tier action as usual, complemented by good music, and it was nice to involve more characters in the series that aren't often seen in the movies. Always a pleasure to hear Akai's voice. 8/10
