Detective Conan Movies Rewatch Before Watching Movie 26: Movie 18
This movie almost had everything to be a great DC movie: a good case, a good code, a menacing criminal and a unique motivation, fantastic action scenes, new supporting characters (first movie appearances for Sera and the FBI), etc. However, our beloved hero and his friends collectively had one brain cell in this movie, and watching the movie as it progressed was increasingly frustrating. They already know that the suspect will shoot at them in the first part of the movie when Sera got shot in the helmet, why is Conan turning his back to the sniper in the middle of a bridge? Why did Conan solve the final location of the shooting and not tell Ran and the kids not to go there when he was in the same room as them before? Why is Ran running straight toward the criminal with a goddamn machine gun just to get a few punches in?
This movie was so maddening because it had the potential to be a great movie, but our main characters were intentionally dumbed down to create the climax, and that is not good. I'd rather the climax be boring than silly. 6/10
