Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (6/12 eps)
Ako is legitimately crazy, and I don't just mean her yandere/kill all normies moments, but like actually crazy. In the first couple episodes especially she is characterized as literally not being able to separate the game from reality. Obviously we've all heard this line of separating fantasy from reality before, but in my opinion she takes it to an unrealistic level. Just to give some examples she believes her and Rusian are married, sees no issue with calling people in-game names in person even after they've told her real names and to call them that, and that she has some sort of inventory just to name a few. In relation to some of these she is supposed to be some sort of loner otaku with social anxiety, but she immediately loudly talks with guildmates in real life the day after meeting them and clings onto Rusian in front of an entire class of people she's never met. This is something no person with social anxiety would ever do. It seems we are expected to believe she is simultaneously some shy, reserved girl while also this super eccentric, cutesy girl who is clueless to how she appears to others. She is very cute and her rants can be funny, but I just find her character completely unbelievable and I would struggle to believe Rusian would actually fall in love with her if it wasn't for the fact that an otaku like him would definitely be in love with an otherwise cute girl who shows a lot of interest in him.

The other characters are fine if completely cliched. I do like the fact that all of them are legitimately hardcore gamers and act like you'd expect someone from that sort of subculture even if they are all cute girls because anime logic deems it so. I picked this up because it seemed like the exact type of garbage I would like and so far I've been pretty correct. I didn't expect anything amazing from this show and it didn't give me anything amazing. It can be funny, it can be cute, and it can be annoying, but it's overall just mediocre. The only time I thought they trying for something a little more compelling was in episode 5 where the conflict started from an epic misunderstanding that left Ako feeling dejected and not wanting to go to school. It tried for what I think was supposed to be a touching moment of Rusian accepting Ako for who she was and telling her he would also quit school to play with her in a ploy to get her to realize she didn't truly want that for either of them, but it wasn't particularly well-executed and the whole thing was pretty much forgotten in the next episode.

Overall I would only really recommend this show to someone who already enjoys trashy romcom/harem(?) shows because it offers almost nothing unique outside of just being another in the genre.
