Amazing, if you’re expecting a bloodbath then don’t watch. They’ve turned the series from a simple man’s anime into a thinker’s anime. I love the profoundness of Thorfinn’s remorse for his past and the Christian undertones turned into overturns mid-season.
It’s a beautiful story about mental conversion and moral dilemmas that plague Thorfinn. And the perpetual challenges to his committed docility make for great tests that test his tenacity once driven by hate, now driven by guilt. I don’t think he’s gotten to love as a motivator yet.
To help you make up your mind: Think of the bad reviews as people who actually enjoyed Disney Star Wars. Simple entertainment for simple viewers.
The focus on the secondary characters and pacing are necessary for the climax. Like any rollercoaster, an incline is important to build up excitement for the drop.
Try it out and stick with it until episode 10/12, where it starts to escalate. Most of these poor reviews are from 2-3 episode droppers.
