To put it lightly, Blue Lock was an absolute displeasure to watch. Every episode bombards you with extremely cringeworthy dialogue, terrible writing, and annoying characters.
Blue Lock's story is essentially non-existent. There isn't a narrative being shown. Each match is just a way to get Isagi to get some stupid boost because he somehow "figured it out" through his observations and thinking. Isagi's ability to copy other players' specialties just makes it so that he's somehow the "best" without really earning it.
Blue Lock's animation is mediocre at best. There are too many stills. The CGI is easily some of the worst I have seen in recent times. I don't see what the people praising the animation are seeing.
As a former football player, the whole idea of "ego" being the focal point of what makes a good striker is unnerving. Every time any of the characters talks about having a very massive "ego", it makes my blood boil. Other extremely cringeworthy concepts include "weapon", "chemical reaction", and "devouring". Each of these terms relate to the writers' childish idea of what football is like. The constant disrespect of other positions is not hard to notice. Blue lock constantly tries to tell the viewer that the striker is somehow the most important role in the game.
Isagi being ranked literally at the bottom at the beginning was a particularly annoying part of the show. It is terribly easy to predict that despite being the lowest ranked, he'll rise to the very top. It's just not very realistic for them to have made such a poor judgement about him. The whole thing just comes off as trying to give the audience some sort of satisfying started from the bottom story, which is just overdone and unrealistic.
Overall, I absolutely do not understand the hype for this show. Different aspects of blue lock range from being mediocre all the way to being unbearable.
