The third OVA of the Oregairu series was much anticipated for many viewers to see how the beloved cast of characters are doing after the climax of the last season. To the expectations of Light Novel readers, it was an even worse letdown than its source material.

This OVA adapts the Oregairu SHIN novels, which is a direct sequel to the original Light Novels. Now SHIN has many questionable writing choices on its own, how will FEEL./producers adapt something that wasn't well received in the first place?

Contrary to what many people believe (or swayed to believe) Oregairu is not a harem, nor about Yui, it was never about that. Oregairu is story between two young individuals Hikigaya and Yukino, a boy meets girl type and how those two overcome social anxiety and their own fears of forming a bond because they both never had anything like a genuine connection. Studio FEEL. in previous seasons gave sub-heroine Yui much more screentime than its main female lead Yukino, letting personal preferences undermine themes of the story. In the OVA this issue was ever more present now that they are trying to lead the audience into believing Oregairu is a harem, giving extra screentime to all girls, pandering to Otaku, destroying what the series built. Oregairu is not a cheap harem, it is a beautiful love story of two people learning to communicate and forging real bonds with others.
