The third season OVA isn't faithful to the "Oregairu Shin" source material. While the main seasons stay true to the original light novel series, the OVA takes a different approach. It selectively incorporates and omits elements from the "Oregairu Shin" light novel, and also adds new scenes that weren't present in the original. You might notice that the OVA is a complete mess if you've read the "Oregairu Shin" light novels. It focuses heavily on Yui's character, while some of the elements that were originally intended for Yukino are either omitted or reduced. It gave everything to Yui that should have been Yukino's. In other ... words, THIS OVA IS JUST ANOTHER STUDIO FEEL'S CORRUPTION!

The OVA covers volumes 1-4 of Oregairu Shin.
Here's what's missing and what's changed in the OVA:

The Date between Hachiman and Yukino is being cut.
All the sweet phone moments between Yukino and Hachiman have also been removed.
In Shin Story, Hachiman completely rejects Yui for being too suspicious, while the OVA original had him resisting the urge to hug her. Additionally, the date between Hachiman and Yui never occurs in Oregairu Shin; this was an OVA original as well.
All the stuff that happened with Yui is well-adapted, while all the moments related to Yukino are left to dust.

The point of Oregairu Shin is to focus on Hachiman and Yukino's relationship. But if Studio "Feel" handles it, Their relationship may not Progress (in the Anime). Don't expect much from them...

And Don't Watch it If you're Yukino Fan, you won't be able to enjoy it. It's a Pain...

Japanese fans mostly favor Yui, so the studio basically made this OVA to promote the VN game, which again exaggerates Yui & Harem's route to get more money, cus why not? Though the canon couple suffers because of this...

Oregairu wasn't the same after Season 2 sadly.
First two Seasons were really something else. Oregairu Zoku was a masterpiece with so many great scenes it was so hard to beat by a mile. In the third Season, the direction went in a more romantic approach. However, it felt like the show only had the same name, but lost some of its greatness somewhere between the 5 years gap of waiting for the 3rd Season.
The same goes with this OVA. We have a continuation what happens after the finale of Season 3, but it looks like they just wanted to quickly wrap it up ... as a whole. At least I could enjoy my beloved music and some funny moments.
As a very huge fan of this show, I won't say I'm disappointed, more like a little bit sad they couldn't finish this show with the very last scene from Shin novel. To me, that was the true finale of Oregairu.

This OVA does not stay faithful to the "epilogue" part of the Light Novel known as "Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru Shin." Thus, feel studios should most definitely be criticized for believing that they can make a better ending for this incredible series. However, this isn't even the worst part. Feel studios not only did not stay faithful to the the final light novel, they produced a terrible OVA that ruined many of the characters and left out the scenes that every fan of Oregairu wanted to see from Shin.

This OVA is a disgrace to Oregairu; instead of watching this OVA, ... the reader of this review should read Shin and enjoy the actual final canon of Oregairu.

I love Yui as much as the next guy but studio feel goes for a shameless cash grab here. There were so many brilliant hachiman yukino moments that were SO well written in Oregairu Shin. Call me whatever but I got butterflies reading the LINE interactions between hachiman and yukinon. And what do we get? A fucking date between hachiman and yui that doesn't even happen in the source material. Even if you are a yui fan, nobody wanted the OVA to give closure to yui's feelings about hachiman, yui already knew she lost, her wish was literally for hachiman to make yukino happy. It ... was supposed to be moments between hachiman and yukino animated. The studio played too much into fanservice and trying to make money instead of doing what is right. The sad part is that it probably worked too. People are happy that they got to see Oregairu animated one last time, no matter how it went. Anyone who truly had appreciation for Oregairu really should not have appreciated this OVA as it just repeated the last few episodes of season three/last few chapters of the LN. They ignored the true ending and tried to compromise to appeal to the masses. Oregairu is my favorite anime and light novel and my message to the fanbase is to do better: don't be satisfied just because they gave us an OVA, don't be satisfied with watari as he tampers with the story to make money, don't be satisfied with all of the nonsense fanservice put out to appeal to the japanese audience. For it is the spinelessness of the fanbase, particularly the japanese audience, that led us to the travesty of a situation it is today. I love to watch Oregairu but this OVA was a heartbreaking finale. 1/10

TL;DR:
It doesn't feel like another OVA nonsense made by a studio.

Considering this is a review of an OVA, I'd give it a higher score. Yes, I have to admit that this episode isn't any better than the TV. Though, it's still much better than most of the OVA from other animes, especially those spin-off ones.*1

Is this the main reason why I gave it an 8? Not exactly, but also…

Watari Wataru, the author himself, is the screenwriter of this OVA. The episode also follows the canon timeline. I know, it's still not canon, but I think it's also good to know some of the author's ideas ... after he finished the light novel. I really hope they could animate the "IF" storyline (Oregairu ANOTHER) as a whole season instead of just releasing some standalone OVA.*2

At the end of the day, it is just a one-episode OVA that doesn't spend you much time to watch. It's fun. Go give it a try. But most importantly, 「だから、思春期は終わらずに、青春は続いていく。」*3

Oregairu season 2, my all-time favorite romance comedy anime, left a lasting impression on me. Its captivating storyline and well-developed characters had me completely hooked. However, when it came to season 3, I couldn't help but feel disappointed. It wasn't able to reach the same heights of it's predecessor, and unfortunately, the OVA that followed only worsened the situation. In fact, the OVA added nothing significant to the overall narrative and even undermined the progress made in the third season.

One aspect that particularly stood out in the OVA was Yui's character. Compared to her portrayal in the third season, she became even more annoying. Despite ... knowing that Hachiman was dating Yukino, Yui persistently tried to insert herself into his life. It was almost bewildering to witness her actions. What made matters worse was that Hachiman was somehow okay with what Yui was trying to do and to make matters more perplexing, Yukino surprisingly remained accepting of Yui's behavior as well. The plausibility of this OVA goes down the drain in this particular sequence which makes it feel like a fanfiction than an official OVA.

Isshiki, a character I didn't particularly care for in the main series, continued to be insufferable in the OVA. It's no wonder Hayama rejected her back in season 2. Her presence on screen became increasingly bothersome, and I couldn't help but cringe at her dialogue.

However, amidst these disappointing aspects, there was one redeeming moment in the OVA: a heartfelt dinner scene where Hachiman spent time with Yukino's family. This particular scene stood out as a genuinely wholesome moment, devoid of any forced harem dynamics or the irritating presence of Yui and Isshiki.

Ultimately, I couldn't help but wish that Oregairu had maintained the exceptional quality of its second season. The decline in storytelling and character development since then has been disappointing, and the OVA serves as a final blow served as a culmination of the worst aspects of Oregairu, including the worst parts of Yui, Isshiki, forced harem elements, and exaggerated drama. It's a regrettable way to conclude a once-great series and one of my favorite series of all time.

I really enjoyed watching it and I recommend it ... to everyone.

I just stumbled upon this and decided to watch it, didn't even know there was an OVA coming, and i'm very disappointed. The ending of s3 was so good, so I thought this might've been some epilogue showing some Yukino and Hachiman scenes, but it turned out to be some kinda of pseudo-harem? Even though in S3 was crystal clear that Hachiman chose Yukino, this OVA made it seem that Yui didn't give up yet and will try to steal Hachiman for Yukino.

In conclusion, I really don't see the point of this OVA, and i'll just try to forget about it. Season 3 was the ... canon ending and this was just a fever dream

It is what it is, an OVA.

I am completely unaware if there will be more projects related to this franchise, but at least this OVA did not feel like an end, in fact I would not say that it is the final one.

The plot of the episode is similar to that of any oregairu episode, nothing relevant except for the reactions to what has already been seen in the third season.

The animation is excellent, there is really nothing to add here.

It strikes me that the personality of the characters does feel as if it were a farewell, showing the best of each one, but in ... itself it is just one more episode without much relevance.

If this is the final ending for oregairu, I just have to say that it didn't deserve this ending, but if it isn't, I'll just say that it's fine, just like an extra episode.

You may not like it but at least I enjoyed it because my ideas are divided between whether it's something good or something bad, although whatever, it's only 23 minutes, it's not like you have to invest a lot of time in it.

Actually, there are many scenes of Hachiman and Yukino, but only a few in this OVA. So, I'm a little disappointed because I've been waiting for this OVA for a long time since Oregairu Kan was released. but, I don't hate the OVA. After all, this is not a canon plot, the fact is that Yui still lost😛🥴. but, I was amazed by the visuals presented in the ova this time, really providing visuals that are pleasing to the eye and the same ost in season 3. but unfortunately there are some scenes that are skipped in this ova, I am a little disappointed ... because there are some good scenes in the light novel that are also skipped in the OVA.

This OVA was released along with an Oregairu visual novel, so it should be considered as an extra rather than a conclusion. Especially because the source material itself (Oregairu Shin) was just something released along with the Blu-ray discs of the third season. So the events here are more an epilogue than a conclusion, as the series already has a suitable ending in the third season episode 12. This is just something extra for the fans. As a big fan of the franchise, I can say it was an enjoyable OVA, just seeing the characters again and the interactions with each other, as well as ... a bit of yukino and hachiman as an established couple was good enough. It's hard not to get emotional in the credits with Diamond no Jundo and scenes from the third season being shown, as I know this is really the end of Oregairu (and I hope so). But there are a few things that are bothersome: not enough focus on Hachiman and Yukino's romance; Yui crossing the line and not respecting the fact Yukino and Hachiman are already in a relationship, as well as Komachi and Iroha inciting her to not give up on Hachiman, even though she is supposed to be a friend of Yukino. This development not only makes for an uncomfortable mood, as it shows Yui in a bad light, because it feels her friendship with Yukino and Hachiman was not as strong as it had been portrayed. Whenever releasing new media for a finished series, one should be careful not to tarnish the original, and the OVA doesn't seem to respect all that happened in the anime. But again, this is just something extra and not a sequel. When watching it, one might think "What is Wataru thinking?", but now I see that this is a warning about what could become of Oregairu if a sequel arises. Ketsuron, Oregairu already has its conclusion in season 3 and this OVA doesn't add to nor tarnish the story, but it can be something enjoyable for the fans who miss the series.

It's almost a sequel to thank the fans. Making the ending more satisfying, I watched ss1 of this series 11 years ago, at that time, the influence of this series was not much different from Elite Class at the present time.
If you have watched all 3 parts, this ova is extremely worth watching. It can be said that throughout all the previous parts, only in ep 11-12 ss3 and this part can we really witness what is called a true Rom-Com. The previous scenes are really ambiguous and unclear, a romcom but it is not until the end that we hear the word "like" or ... "love"

Unexpected yet heartwarming conclusion to a teen romantic comedy that is genuinely wrong as expected.

Without any knowledge from the light novel that expands the relationship between Yukino and Hachiman, what this OVA managed to deliver was insane, especially as someone who recently discovered that an OVA was released. Few cups of cheesy romantic scenes between Yukino and 8man, comedic exchange of dialogues between Yui, Iroha, and the best sister in the world Komachi, the absolutely mess of a family dinner with Yukino's mom, the solemn confession of Yui, and the usual laughable inner monologues of Hikigaya — you'd get this feeling of demanding more than ... just one episode.

I ain't gonna lie, I finished the season 3 bearing the flag of Yukino as Hachiman's compatible partner. 3 years and one OVA later, the flag still proudly stands — except add more flags to it. Upon seeing the struggles of Yui as repercussion of maintaining the status quo between the service club members in addition to Hachiman and Yukino's deepened affection for each other, I can't help but feel pity. But at the same time, this OVA has shown that Yui, still has some fight left in her. With her two bestwingwoman (Iroha and Komachi) to offer morale, I can't help but cheer upon this futile attempt of Yui. But I know there are conflicts waiting to arrive when Yui invades the relationship between Hachiman and Yukino. This created tension between the three — or did it? Actually, it didn't. What I liked about this OVA is that characters were more open to one another. Hikigaya noticing Yui's feelings, Yui's preparedness for Hachiman's rejection, and Yukino's realization of Yui's desperate attempt to steal our boi. Looking back, the three are sure to struggle in confessing their own feelings, creating this standstill with three of them awkward with one another. Instead, this OVA has shown that they've come a long way. More open with one another. Seemingly quiet at times, but they know their feelings are able to reach the other. Instead of this barrier of bitterness that stands between the among them, they are able to be genuine with one another.

Of course, I'd like to also express my best wishes to our best boi Hikigaya Hachiman. He's come a long way indeed. Instead of the edgy and restrained Hachiman we've seen in the past seasons, we're actually seeing Hachiman in his purest form — an awkward, cheesy, and indiscreet character that is truly laughable and at times cringeworthy from the eyes of a viewer. He still has the great intellect and judgement to observe the feelings of the people around him, but this time, it's time he considers his own as well. His growth was truly phenomenal to see indeed.

The appearance of Iroha and Komachi still proves that they are truly the best girls in the series. From Iroha's blunt yet mysterious aura and Komachi's supportive personality, you know they're also now part of the problematic Service Club. The last scene especially where Iroha is explicitly implying her interest towards Hachiman was hands down the greatest scene as well.

The animation, the music, and runtime were all great as well. Of course, I think this OVA would've hit home better if scenes were longer and the relationships between the characters were expanded, but I simply consume what is served on the platter.

Overall, this OVA hit right though the feels. Drama, comedy, romance, and battles inside the characters. It's still the Oregairu I've come to loved. Seeing the growth of our boi Hikagaya, Yuigahama The Sneaky Greedy Thief, Yukino The Keeper, Iroha The Sly Fox, and Komachi The Best Sister; this makes up the Service Club that is quite different than your usual boring club. The direction of this OVA seems to me like Hikagaya is towards the Harem Route. But whether he sticks to Yukino and let go of Yui, or in some condition turned to his true love, Totsuka Saika instead; It feels like Hachiman found his "genuine" thing. He still struggles to communicate openly, but he's trying. He may be awkward as hell, but without a doubt he's smarter than us NEET's sitting all day long.

I was supposed to finish my project that is due this midnight but instead is writing this review. I would have liked to punched myself for being distracted, but I can't simply let my inner thoughts be kept this time. This time, let's be more like Hachiman you see. Someone who's not afraid to say that he was raised better by her mom compared on how his girlfriend's mom raised her daughter.

I don't want it to end. I want to be selfish and have this carry-on. I love the show and everything about it. It can be so real in so many ways so often. As far as the OVA it stays loyal to the premise and its source, it looks beautiful and is truly befitting of the show. I love the flow, and the attitude, and the ending just lets the world it sits in carry on. It takes a pause whilst striving forward. None of this is ... the end of school let's grow apart it just carries on. So much more drama to have and so much more to see. Almost a paradox but in actual fact a continuing story.

Keep it going with this truly identifiable cast and let Hachiman Hikigaya go forward into the future of this wholesomeness.

This OVA feels like an additional episode to the final season. The voice acting, animation and sound are all the same as the third season and it takes place at the start of the final year.

A negative about this OVA is that there is yet more drama. especially with regard to Yui's feelings but this isn't nearly as bad as the actual seasons. Luckily there is also quite a few scenes devoid of drama that just have everyone interacting in a nice, non-stressful way. It's fun to watch and reminds me of the first season.

Overall I recommend watching this because it's more pleasant ... to end the anime on some positive scenes rather than what simply felt like the end of the drama.
