»»————-Watching Darling was like watching a ping-pong game. On one side we have the development of the couple, and on the other the plot. The game begins, and even though you understand that there is nothing special about the movement of the ball (script), you still follow it carefully..————-««

However, even though the rhythm of the ball can be fun, the problems start when one side tries to get the crowd on their feet, and what should have been a great move ends up hitting the net, leaving it feeling like the move was all over the place. lost.

If that wasn't enough, players start to create their own rules, ignoring the other's turn and starting their own moves the way they want.

In the end, the feeling that remains after watching the match is that the only objective of that “game” was to keep the ball moving, whatever the cost, in the name of entertaining people.

As expected a few episodes ago, Darling's ending has that weird aftertaste. The atmosphere of the episode manages to be even cute, showing the children repopulating the Earth, and learning to deal with their own problems, after the adults abandoned the place, but that, of course, does not mean that everything turned into a sea of flowers.

Yes, I've already mentioned this in basically all of the last five reviews, and I won't go into much detail about the conveniences that this episode also has, not least because it should be something to be expected, since this is not where they would fix the holes.

However, while wanting to avoid being repetitive, it is inevitable to have to talk about the decisions the plot has made regarding how to proceed with the events of the past week.

To say that everything boils down to this single point would be an exaggeration, not least because the episode has several relevant mini developments for those who expected the ending, such as, for example, the fate of Goro, or the vision of the future where everyone grew up and found their own place. in the world.

But anyway, what takes the most attention in everything there is the unfolding of events between Hiro and Zero Two.

The couple was already destroying God and the world with the power of love, and once again manages to change any course of history using romantic catchphrases, and a little “consideration” for others.

Until then, I wouldn't complain too much, since it's been the norm, but the point is that, this time, a group of people came together to send strength to the two, in the best shounen style, with the right to a half-assed speech from the Mitsuru about love and everything.

If that alone could not bring a demerit to the originality of the series, the way they lead to this situation is completely disconnected, using Kokoro's daughter to "listen" to Zero Two's cry for help and create all that commotion around a statue.

This kind of script maneuver is so anticlimactic to me that I just laughed. From my perspective, it made the romance, the drama with the couple, and anything else that could make the crisis that the characters were going through worthless.

Goro's kiss with Ichigo? Half played, without much impact… The birth of Kokoro's daughter? Visually well done and directed, but no credibility “to me”… Naomi coming back from the dead and wanting to pay as a functional squad member for the Ikuno shipp to work? I don't even need to answer...

They are full of situations in the episode like the ones above, where there were developments, but I at least can't give importance to them.

This “freedom” that the script gave viewers to assemble their own story makes it possible to credit several explanations for what happened in the story, at the same time it is possible to disbelieve them for the same reasons.

The only thing that I personally save is the poetry with the souls and the reincarnation of the couple, but that still sounds more like an attempt to please the fans.

Final Conclusion;
Darling showed great potential at the beginning, but in my opinion, it lost strength as its script progressed, even if it had some high points here and there.

The constant ideas left in the air, in an attempt to create theories, turned out to be a double-edged sword in the end. As entertainment, the anime even works, but it is undeniable that it is full of problems. Their severity and how much they will bother or not bother the person, will depend on each one.
