Rakudai starts off a bit cliché, with some nice effects in a fight here and there, but pretty common overall. He wins you over with the characters however, their attitudes are somewhat out of the ordinary. Stella is much more perverted and interested in the male body than the pure women who like to show it so much in anime, and Ikki is more cock-faced and sincere than usual. Following that, the anime shows a good use of romantic comedy, and that the director knows how to create exciting battles, in episodes 3 and 4. The work also breaks a great taboo of romantic comedies in its 4th episode. What comes after is a weaker arc, but still reasonable, and with an interesting character.

The great merit and attraction of this work, however, was its ending, the breaking of the romance is nice, but it is the ending that intensifies it, in addition to giving a strong development to the protagonist. And for me, as for most, the ending counts for a lot. How the work decides to end is how it will be remembered, and Rakudai ends very well (albeit with a small anti-climax). It delivers what you want to see, and even what you didn't expect to see.

Rakudai's direction seems to be really trying to do something cool, which is rare. They alter order of events from the source material, increase fights in size, use visual gimmicks to magnify events. The attempt to do something a little better than usual is everywhere. The visual part is reasonable, nothing above average, but it delivers the basics and strives to generate exciting fights, using good direction and even fluid animation at times. The soundtrack, exciting and very well used, helps a lot in this.

Rakudai looked like an average anime, but it scales with each episode and delivers an ending strong enough to make you remember it for a long time, which is more than most anime can. The fights are exciting, the romance is good, the characters likable. It lacked character development for the heroine, but other than that it's a great anime. Here's the recommendation

Rakudai started out as an anime that I thought could be average/good, but ended up being "really good". He broke some clichés, used others well, delivered likeable protagonists, and exciting fights. The only thing missing was a character development for Stella, who was more of a support. Oh yes, it would be 10. But other than that, it was very good, and best of all, it knew how to close with the best episodes of the series, leaving that taste of wanting more.Yes I know, you want to know about a second season of Rakudai Kishi. But I can't do much before the sales officially go out. I advance, however, that unless there is a gross error in the predictions, the answer will not be good, for more than one reason. Rakudai has an adversity that complicated his life more than usual: they would need 2 cour for an S2, because the next bow uses 6 LNs, this first one only used 3.
