Ah yes, an anime where you can feel classy while watching. An anime based on the famous french novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, a story of love, revenge, greedy, the aristocracy, with aliens, mech fights, spaceships, and demonic spirits........okay. Before anyone thinks that this sounds like of a sci-fi nerd stoner who wanted to sound classy wrote this anime, I must say that this is probably the most faithful adaptation to the original story I've ever seen, not based on story but rather on theme. All of the themes from Monte Cristo are presented in the anime 10 fold. It treats it's audience with respect, and allows a true exploration of how revenge can affect everyone around you, as well as yourself. Also, the visuals are truly amazing, done in a unique, computerized style with strong symbolism and gravitas (and I saw this anime on an LSD TV and I almost went blind). At 24 episodes, it may take a day or two to finish it, but if you want to watch an anime where you can brag about your elegance and sophistication, then grab a cup of tea, an expensive looking robe, and enjoy the Count of Monte Cristo.
