This is one of my favorite manga and it's kind of sad that it didn't last a few more chapters or that it doesn't enjoy a better animation. To be more precise, several of the jokes and comedy moments were eliminated due to lack of time and in order to tell the romantic part correctly (which is understandable since it is what matters most) which, together with a rather mediocre animation, leave Tomo-chan clearly behind other gems of the genre such as Kaguya. If you have time and/or liked the anime, I recommend reading the manga, which is a delight.
Despite that, I think the heartwarming story along with great voice acting and a well timed comedy should be enough to give the anime a chance, especially for those who like romantic comedies and don't want to commit to watching 4 seasons of another series, you won't regret it.
