Overall, it's a great mystery manga. The leading in the first few chapters is amazing and keeps you reading, only to open up more layers. The story is able to remain consistent with what it sets out to be.

The art is more stunning as we go on and the stylization really brings out the distinct personality traits of each character in their own ups and downs.

But if I have to nitpick, then it's about how laying plot twist after plot twist kinda takes away some element of realism. I understand some are for misleading purposes and they blend in the plot well, but it feels a bit forced that every single character has an ulterior motive and deranged execution.

But the highlight for me is the portrayal of humanity within the cold-hearted Hachinoi who is clouded by revenge. The subtle hint of his distraught on knowing about Youko's death shows his vulnerability without being over the top. This makes his character far greater than a one-dimensional brute or edgy boy.

Most mystery manga have a great knack for concluding a stance on moral issues and this is no exception; the ending chapter definitely leaves me with a nice aftertaste that might linger for a while.
